I would like the ability to change avatars by taking a picture (iPhone only) or loading up one with the system to make it into an 80x80 file. Also maybe an inbuilt chat system (like the FPchat on steam) but only for iPod and iPhone users. QUICK QUESTION: Will moderators be able to perform ban, unban, lock, move, delete and DDT threads?

It will contain basic moderator functions
But what will it do when you're banned? Will you just see refugee camp with your ban reason above it or will you restricted from viewing the app an get an "ERROR" message?
QUICK QUESTION: Will moderators be able to perform ban, unban, lock, move, delete and DDT threads?
Why do you care?
Because he still thinks he'll be a mod.
Ticker, it also should give the client application information on which usergroup someone is in. [editline]07:48AM[/editline] Also, whats taking the design so long, that should be done after a day of work and a week of tweaking.
Its a very long process. I'm taking the default vb4 theme and making it look like the current fp theme while and styling all the new pages. Really the last area that needs a lot of work is social groups.
Umm, the FP theme are simple squares with blue bars, remaking the forum theme should take only some housr, making it fit for new areas would be like an additional 2 hours max.
lol do you have any idea what you're on about
Yes, I dont know about you, but a week is the maximum time this would take me.
Yes, I dont know about you, but a week is the maximum time this would take me.
>Implying this is just "converting from VB3 to VB4"
Converting any theme from any forum software to another is something as easy as hell (in my opinion)
Converting any theme from any forum software to another is something as easy as hell (in my opinion)
Converting, maybe if compatibility is simple. But he also has new areas to design, areas to redesign, stuff that's not design etc to do. Stop assuming things.
Im not assuming things, Im talking from experience. And with converting I meant re-doing it.
Fuck you bitch more than WAYWO in the programming section.
Yes, I dont know about you, but a week is the maximum time this would take me.
Yeah, but I'd rather not have facepunch look like this.
Yeah, but I'd rather not have facepunch look like this. [IMG_thumb]http://anyhub.net/file/sekpunch.png[/IMG_thumb]
Too bad we don't have a zing rating yet. :eng99:

I know hexxeh suggested this, but I'd like to say it anyway. Programs to use the API need a key (check). This key has a URL (website of the app using the key) and name assigned to it. When a post is made from the program, it can have the name displayed after the post date/time saying "3 hours ago via Facepunch Mobile" sorta thing, with the underlined text linking to the app, very much like twitter does (if you look at my twitter and click Twitteriffic for Mac on one of my tweets, you get what I mean)

Also, offer a dev.facepunch.com service for developers to manage their programs and monitor usage, posts made, register new apps etc. Nothing overboard, a simple UI like CloudApp.

Thanks that's so relavent to this.
Thanks that's so relavent to this.
He has a point. XenForo is amazing.
Yeah, but I'd rather not have facepunch look like this. [IMG_THUMB]http://anyhub.net/file/sekpunch.png[/IMG_THUMB]
Haha.
He has a point. XenForo is amazing.
Yeah but we're moving to vBulletin and that's what I'm writing the API for
Why do we need a custom API with no support from anything when we could just have TapaTalk which is already supported by several applications and is more mature? It makes no sense.
That's exactly my point. Now we have to wait for and install an extra app instead of just using already existing solutions.
Some progress http://fpvb4.compwhizii.net/fp_api.php?module=forum Lists forums. By default it outputs JSON but you can also choose XML with the format parameter. More will come later. Adjust depth with depth parameter. [editline]08:28PM[/editline] http://fpvb4.compwhizii.net/fp_api.php?module=forum&format=printr&depth=3&node=1
Can you actually authenticate with this API? So if you pass your users' cookie data it will actually show sections you can see (GMF, mod forums, DDT)?

We have complete control over. TapaTalk's code is a mess and I would not enjoy modifying it.
Flexibility. From what I understand TapaTalk only does XML-RPC to communicate to it's application. We can support any protocol we want.
Our API will be documented so that anyone can develop an application to use it. I don't think TapaTalk has that.
We can support Facepunch only features.
We can add control over who can use the API with API keys and such
I am developing the API alongside Hexxeh who is developing a mobile application for it.

To 1) It may look "ugly" to you but not to the coder. Other people's sourcecode always looks shitty if you read it yourself. To 2) That might be the only good thing To 3) TapaTalk's API is documented. You only have to register at their site. To 6) Yeah, you two develop the app. But still I wonder: Why to reinvent the wheel? Did you code your own OS because "Windows is coded messy"? (Same counts for linux. Just look at the kernel-code. It's a mess sometimes. Still people are using it). The most downside I see with a "custom" API and APP is, that people now have to wait until the app and API are finished (weeks to months). Then people have to test the app until it's bugfree (Maybe it will never be because someone drops the work on it). Or the app misses things which we like from apps we know e.g. TapaTalk. Why don't you just allow TapaTalk (it takes no time to install it) for those who want to use it and then get on developing your API and App as alternative? You lose nothing (besides of that you now know that "ugly code" is used). We gain much.
Can you actually authenticate with this API? So if you pass your users' cookie data it will actually show sections you can see (GMF, mod forums, DDT)?
Yes I wrote a login module that you can POST you username and password (MD5'd if you wish) and it will return a session hash. Add the session hash to URL via the s parameter and you'll be authenticated.
What's so good about XenForo ? Is there some machine that prints money that comes with it when you buy it ?
