really? what's your defense on my accusations here:
hurr durr garry i think you missed the part where overv and i are working on apps that recognize formulas and use a CAS to symbolically evaluate the expressions
the app you linked to contains a bunch of false advertising and amounts to nothing more than a typical OCR reading lists of numbers and doing basic options like "add" or "subtract"
in the best possible case (i.e. none of the advertising was false) then all it does is calculate numerical values, nothing to do with symbolic computation
well he doesn't *need* to, i'm just asking him
go look at the app's description on his site then look at the screenshots on the app store, looks like false advertising to me
How did I live without boost
It's cleaned up my code by a shitload.

Because it's slow, and compiling a large project with it takes years...

False advertising.. Why would people do that? Apple is pretty strict with their app review process(atleast in terms of features if you dont consider all the fart apps). Have you even tried it?

dude. look at the screenshots.
it contains a list view. the list view is populated with numbers from the image. you can give the list view a function, like "add up the numbers"
meanwhile, its description says

Imagine you’re sitting in school or university and like all the time you don’t understand anything. It doesn’t matter if you are not able to calculate the result or if the solution doesn’t make any sense for you. Photo2Calc helps you to quickly find the solution and demonstrates the whole calculation method in an easy way!

Who cares, exactly?

Like yours has a list view populated with primitive buttons. Oh no that means its fake!
Got downsampling working when outputting videos in GMod.

I'm not even reading the posts here, garry sent me the links over a mail. Also I couldn't care less who the fuck you are or what you have done in the past.
Edit: I just checked the dates of your and overv's posts, I started it AGES ago before you guys even started working on it.

and there we have it.
null has once again embarrassed himself for no reason at all.
Cleaned up my code a bit, next stop GWEN integration.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lanczos_resampling pls (if it's fast enough)
It's not useful for downsampling. Linear is good enough.
lousy filler while i continue to research compression techniques

Figure out some way to make that a desktop background. That'd be pretty damn awesome.

Windows Dreamscene?

though I've never seen anyone use it, so it's probably terrible

babez plz calm down. i hate when u act like this. plz stop. txt it.
where did you get that idea? lanczos is pretty much standard for high-quality video downsampling.
It's a brick-wall lowpass filter.
If you're any kind of downsampling (including bi-linear), you have to do a low-pass anyway (unless you're doing the sum over an area or something), which is usually, you guessed it! A sinc filter, same as Lanczos. (or maybe Gaussian)
The point is it's idiotic to argue that Lanczos is "better" than ordinary linear downsampling when they both do exactly the same thing.

that's nice and all but you missed my question
from your page:

Did you ever think about a calculator who solves your mathematical equations?
Meet the first Optical Character Calculator App in the world;

does your app solve mathematical equations?

if you're going to keep asking him this, can you at least take it to PMs?
edit: I mean, come on. he's already said he doesn't read this thread, all it's doing is cluttering it up with your stupid personal vendetta.

Does it matter? If you don't like his app, don't buy it.

well i'm curious because garry/synthiac/etc assumes that overv's/mine/this guy's apps are all the same thing and that over and i were too slow to the race

does it bother you that much what a couple people on the internet think about you being slow to the race?

If I'm not mistaken, the original point was that the idea of using a camera app to do math was not a ~revolutionary~ new idea, and I don't see how nitpicking individual features changes that.

Sorry I didn't realise how incredibly different your character recognition math based app was to this other character recorgnition math based app (apart from the fact that his is finished).
hm ... yeah, okay, i see how it is guys
very well, i shall return once my app is finished. talk to you all in WAYWO January 2012 Edition
Why don't you all stop complaining and work on your apps regardless. If there are currently apps available for this task, that doesn't mean you should stop working on your own. For your personal growth, it's a fantastic project, and for end-users, it means variety.
From what I've seen thus far, the current apps for this look like shit.
Now go off and make something that's nicer, easier to use, and doesn't look like shit.
Problem solved.
that's nice and all but you missed my question
from your page:

Except variables it can do pretty much everything currently like a normal calculator. Also there is another version planned that is going to be more like Calculus with the OCR ability.
Out of interest did you even read the page where all features are listed?
well i'm curious because garry/synthiac/etc assumes that overv's/mine/this guy's apps are all the same thing and that over and i were too slow to the race
In the end does it matter? An app is an app regardless of who makes it. Even if someone beats you to the punch on it, at least you learned from all the progress you made. Try to think of something that the others don't do, but still remains relevant to the general idea of what the app is supposed to do.
All that can be done from this point (if they are the same), is to make yours stand out more. Even if that can't be done, then at least you learned more knowledge on optical recognition; which of course can be used in multiple other ideas you may come up with.
EDIT:

This sums up what I was getting at.
Think of all the fart apps on the App Store. "Oh man, he made a mobile audible flatulence emulator before I did! I guess I better just kill myself."
