Bottom-left? Bottom-right looks like a WiFi symbol... But, yeah, Lexic's idea sounds good, hemisphere with waves hitting it. If you want to get nerdy, you could do the electrical symbol for a switch, or a photodiode or something. Or at least gather inspiration from those things.
Left, I meant left. The bottom right IS supposed to look like the WiFi symbol. I'll do Lexic's idea then. It's not like it's difficult to change it later.
CMake INFURIATES me right now. I'm considering moving to premake even if it means dropping a shitload of features that make life easier. Or even Boost.Build.
Where can I download your fraps for linux thing?
You can't yet. It's still a heavy WIP.
As promised, my current project. It's a bit.. well.. less artistic. Fully synchronized props and vehicles (players). However, I must admit I might just abandon this project and use the code for something more First-Person-ish. But I lack good ideas. Details - Uses ENet for networking - Based on Leadwerks engine with support for direct OpenGL drawing/rendering-commands, TTF font drawing - Coded in Delphi and uses 3rd party and a couple of our own C++ libraries - Support for cvars and concommands - Partial Lua support - Currently the game is already playable (and stable) but there's no goal and the car physics suck balls Flames are animated particles
OpenGL has 0,0 at the bottom left and 0,480 at the top left, while WebM has 0,0 at the top left and 0,480 at the bottom left. (On a 640x480 res). The coordinate systems are flipped vertically in OpenGL, so instead of being like writing from top left, it's mathematically correct (like on graphs).
I know what you mean, it's flipped vertically. Is that the same case when reading RGB from the screen? I would have thought it would have always been the case that the first byte would have been the red component of the pixel on the top left.
snip
OMG, looks epic, can I have access to closed beta!?
- Coded in Delphi and uses 3rd party and a couple of our own C++ libraries
Aw yeah. I remember reading some of my uncle's Delphi books when I was around 10. Didn't understand a thing.
I know what you mean, it's flipped vertically. Is that the same case when reading RGB from the screen? I would have thought it would have always been the case that the first byte would have been the red component of the pixel on the top left.
I'm not sure about the RGB, my guess is no as the colours look fine apart from being a little darker, although that I'd probably check if the RGB->YUV thing is working properly if you haven't already.
Just a quick question, what is everybody using to grab gifs of their programs? Some things just can't be explained in static pictures.
4 player split-screen-coop, TO THE MAX !!! OK, I am cheating a bit... the game only detects one joystick, so actually 2 player split screen is only available (player 2,3 and 4 read same controls), and joystick controls aren't working well, but hey... small steps :D Note: While recording the frame rate dropped to 30 FPS, so the "physics" are broken more than they actually are :P
[img_thumb]http://i44.tinypic.com/4tvuc5.png[/img_thumb]
Reminds me of XIII
The snowflakes started vigorously resisting my adblock, is there's a userscript to disable them?
Reminds me of XIII
That's where I got the idea from, and my game really benefits from that.
-awesome van-
That's pretty neat, don't abandon it. Make the wheels made of cardboard and put the vans in a house with tons of hazards and you've got yourself a game.(and of course a way to draw on your van with various pens)
The snowflakes started vigorously resisting my adblock, is there's a userscript to disable them?
Adblock hasn't worked at all for me. I think it probably has to do with the fact that Chrome doesn't allow addons to modify the page before it loads like Firefox does, so Chrome adblock doesn't catch 'snow.js' before it's executed.
I don't get the snowflakes and I don't think I'm even blocking them :saddowns:
OMG, looks epic, can I have access to closed beta!?
It's open development actually, sort-of. Here's the download for the current version. It has minor bugs related to spawning and when going out-of-bounds, and it's doomed to crash etc. Make sure to read the readme.txt! http://www.racemaniacs.net/downloads/RM_12dec2011.rar
Aw yeah. I remember reading some of my uncle's Delphi books when I was around 10. Didn't understand a thing.
I [s]sometimes still[/s] always have no clue how to do stuff. (Edit: Strike-fail)
That's pretty neat, don't abandon it. Well the thing is that the engine's car physics are crap. And thus I rather stick with first-person/third-person stuff and not related to vehicles.
I don't get the snowflakes and I don't think I'm even blocking them :saddowns:
Pretty sure they only appear in chrome now.
Augh. I got inspired to work for about 5 minutes, then all my inspiration promptly died for some reason. Do you guys ever get lack of inspiration or motivation for extended durations of time? I'm talking like a week or more or something.
I went for about 3 years lacking inspiration and sunk in to a nice deep depression. It sucked.

My advice, stop thinking about what to do and just start doing it. Even 5 minutes a day, regularly, will make you do more and more. the more you achieve the more you want to work. That's how it worked for me. All my super complex awesome ideas never led me anywhere, while my current project that I've been working for a long time now started with a simple "make arms fly off".

Fuck I love you guys, I was feeling down there for a bit, and yeah I've had stuff like that for months on end, but I didn't think it was that common. I figured it was more of a short-term thing, maybe a day or two. I don't feel as bad then. I can't even remember when I last was feeling productive or inspired.
It's weird, but I feel inspired whenever I am working on UI things. I don't know why, but I fucking LOVE PROGRAMMING UI! Speaking of, MOTHERFUCKING CURSORS IN MY GODDAMN TEXTBOXES [vid]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4093439/cursor.webm[/vid] IT FEELS SO GOOD TO PROGRAM THIS.
I found the cure. When I'm lazy, unmotivated and just unproductive I punish myself with forced coding.
Tried that, can't do it. I mean I can, but I like to enjoy what I do.
