I hate those people so much. I can't even keep listening to it, they are gonna ruin my Christmas spirit. Minecraft performs poorly, but not for those reasons. Lets be honest c++ Minecraft clones don't perform much better if at all.
Because they are also programmed sub optimally.
Like, can you imagine, if, like, they, like, made Crysis in JAVA! OMGWTF!
You would need, like, a SUPERCOMPUTER!
That's why I never talk about something I don't 100% fully understand, you'll end up looking stupid.
It's also very irresponsible.

Thankfully, only 250 are dumber because of listening to that.
Someone give me a java console program idea to take away my new keyboard's virginity.
The classic approach to context switching appears to be either using IRET to change CPL and then loading the registers from somewhere, or using the TSS
I'm thinking of abusing SYSEXIT, which should hopefully be a bit faster than IRET, to jump into user-level code bound to the top of the address space of every process, where all registers would be popped off the stack
Additionally, the code to do the SYSEXIT would also need to be loaded at the top of the address space in both the kernel and in the program to switch the page directory before entering user mode
Thoughts?
"with progressive updates, players have more trouble playing the game" -- implies via lag
Doesn't that PROVE that it isn't Java?
"minecraft is like an operating system"

I just bought an android phone (htc hd2 t8585)! Expect me to be making some android apps soon.

You're thinking that now, just wait until you see the API

Or the tools
Or the emulator
I couldent even get it to compile every time I've tried because their Ant compile script generator thing would just error out
And the emulator can take 15 minutes to start when not booting from a snapshot
Sounds like a bad windows port. Or is the linux tools equally as bad?
Sounds like a bad windows port. Or is the linux tools equally as bad?
I havent tested, but probably not, most of the lower-level tools (dont think they are used a lot, but for example I needed them for testing a local root exploit, still havent gotten that to work) doesnt even have Windows builds

I had to "disable caching" by adding an unused paramater to the query string with a random value.
Apparently MinGW shouldn't be installed into a path that contains spaces. What the fuck? Is it 1990 again?
Woo, now it looks more like an actual app. Got a better placeholder icon, too.

Enough for today. Probably going to do some more tomorrow, maybe implement friends and games list.

My SYSEXIT method worked

@carterkalchik Well... I care. I had to turn off ratings after the 10th dislike of the day.

I can't believe I'm subscribed to this guy.
Fuck, I think I went about this project completely arseways. Do I plough forwards and see if it gets better or go back to the drawing board?
He made it private.
Working on terrain generation.

Heh something funny happened a few days ago. Mediamarkt (a large german electronics chain) was hosting a competition on a Swedish news site. The goal was to achieve many clicks as possible on their flash ad, the winner would get a laptop. Since I just had finished my first programming course at university, I wanted to see if I've actually learned something.
So I decompile the file, and to my amazement I understand most of the crap. So I change their "anti-cheat" function, and made some more smaller changes. After 1 hour I had around 1 million clicks.
The next day I got a mail about it, which said that I'd won the competition, but couldn't give me the laptop because they argued that no human could make over 300 clicks / minute.

I just finished reading Neuromancer today and there's a part that I think actually rather well describes my programming style even though it obviously was originally ironic.

You should have made the figures a bit more believable, then you'd get a free laptop.

Haha. Wonder if they'd have given you the laptop if you'd made it add clicks at a reasonable rate.
edit: yeah, what he said :v:

I would have toned that down a bit. In that case I would have also added a factor of randomness in case the server had pattern detection mechanics (like Google).
I would feel shit if I actually got it. Would probably write a mail explaining about the situation :v:
