If i'm making a flash application/game for a website, can it be posted here? :smug:
This is a cool-kids-only thread
It's like a unique farmville clone for my community  But okay then.
when did you all suddenly turn gold?
I find that if I yell at my code for a while it usually works, or else I just revert to one of my daily backups.
Version control is great, isn't it? Saved my skin a few times once I've stuffed something up and don't know where I went wrong.
... unique ... clone ...
Wait, what?
Version control is great, isn't it? Saved my skin a few times once I've stuffed something up and don't know where I went wrong. Wait, what?
Oh come on, it's a farmville lookalike with some unique touches to it :rolleye:
... unique ... clone ...
Those words contradict. :eng101:
when did you all suddenly turn gold?
When we became better than you. But really, you need at least 2000 posts and to have been a member for at least 2 years now and then you automatically become a gold member.
I was just thinking of bitwise flags. Usually it's done like (FLAG | FLAGTWO | ANOTHERFLAG) right? I was thinking of making a class so you would do Flags().Flag().FlagTwo().AnotherFlag().Get() Is that insanity? The idea is that Flags() would return the flag class, which you'd then call .Flag() on to add that flag to it, and it would return itself - then you would call FlagTwo() on it to add to it, etc etc

Bitwise looks way more clean.

REPRESENT XNA Update: I'm rocking on with collision boxes now. It's much much easier than I thought it would be and I really recommend looking at it for those few who haven't already.
05, and still non-gold! Beat that!
Woo!
Power-on dudes. Blue Power.
Semester's finally over so now I can concentrate on my IRC client. :O

The console variable system works entirely (added parsing), fixed many small bugs, working on some networking (going to rewrite networking system so it can buffer incoming packets as well as outgoing - so lag can be simulated). Stuff works really smoothly now.
Working on a Sokoban-like game:
Nice graphics I must say.
Nice graphics I must say. Do you REALLY want to use GTA2 fonts in the console?
I like that font, it has classic GTA2 feeling about it :v: Someday later I'll implement vector font rendering/ttf, so one will be able to use any font in console. I'll see if that would look better (and from technical point of view I'm using my custom font, with extended character set)
05, and still non-gold! Beat that!
Yeah I don't think I reached 2000 posts on my 05 account either lol... I never made a post until like 07 or 08... On topic though, I have been using VS 2010, and decided to pick up C# while I made the transition, been using it a couple of hours and 2010 is pretty nice. It seems to work really well with C++ now, the whole intellisense seems to have gotten better.
If R = 0, that's unrealistic coding.
Quantum superposition? [editline]03:02PM[/editline]
Nice graphics I must say. Do you REALLY want to use GTA2 fonts in the console?
The more important question is: Is one licensed to use the GTA2 fonts for their own project? I know the game is freeware now, but that doesn't mean copyright restrictions aren't still in effect.

The extra symbols in charset are drawn by me from scratch, and are my property. The game itself (officially) doesn't include any graphics or maps from GTA2

Making a twitter client in LÖVE. I realize that it's not the ideal platform for a twitter client but it's a proof-of-concept of my twitter library. I also realize that this is pretty much no progress :eng99:
Yeah, it's a bit far off of an actual tweetmachine.
Right. And given particle physics, R = 0.00001 means that the masses are not inside each other, yet the resulting force is huge.
How do you think accretion and formation of masses is done. You could do r^4 or r^8 if you want to, or like I said, have it on a realistic scale (having it so that distance is in units, acceleration and velocity, movement is based on a scale of units per pixel). Seriously, if he's going for realistic point-based gravity, this is how it should be done. It's not like when you jump you end up flying all around the earth. [editline]12:26PM[/editline] Oh, or he could make it so mass is 6.2*10^-23 (Avagadro's constant from what I can remember, pardon me if I made an error)

It'd be pretty cool! :D
Yo son, if you got that working you could have "achievements" and notify people through twitter, or other game status updates. It'd be pretty cool! :D
It's already possible. This project isn't a game per se, it's just a plain twitter client. If you want to use twitter in a Lua-powered game, just use the aforementioned SocialLua library.
Wow I have never heard of LÖVE, looks kind of neat I will definitely have to check it out.
