Yeah. I haven't added the "mouse has left the navbar div, close whatever menu is open" control, and the bottom two buttons are currently unsupported. What I'll eventually do is make it so if there is a button in the nav that doesn't have a sub-menu, then it has its own separate control that simply closes whatever sub-menu is out. Those two should alleviate that problem.

i can't stand designs like this. i'm a huge hypocrite for feeling this way (a majority of my designs for a while were like this) but they're so bland and default feeling. and those icons make me want to punch my screen in. the white highlight for the sidebar divider thing is cutting off the blue selected state and it's annoying the shit out of me
also yeah, that whole mobile thing is how it shouldn't be. just pushing a design, basically, until it fits onto a screen is the exact opposite of what should be done

The white outline was just some stupid thing I added at the last second in an effort to be different. The footer content fades in once it has retrieved the system stats using some ajax magic. What icons would you recommend and what's the [i]correct[/i] way to design for mobile?

no no no the white outline itself is fine but make the blue highlight go over it.
as for the mobile design things, you're basically moving things to be on top of eachother rather than next to eachother and that's not really how it should be done
IMO what you should do is develop mobile with separate functionality as well as design, ie. a collapsing menu that can be opened by clicking a button at the top so it's always accessible (just out of the way when not being accessed)
Unless with a smartphone browser, having the finger on the screen counts as hovering and click on release, which would make sense and allow you to have the menu collapse using pure CSS.
Concurrently developing an independent desktop and mobile version of a site would be a pain in the ass.
