Looks really nice, but I think those button labels could stand out a bit more from their buttons, the contrast is a little bit low on them... I'll be starting next week, and it's a full time permanent position. My position on the team is (unsurprisingly) web designer, and I'll be responsible for an upcoming redesign (and redevelopment) the company is budgeting for. I'll be working with another developer who will be overhauling the back-end as I work on the front-end.

Yeah, heh. It's all happened pretty fast. My last week of uni was the week that just passed, and it's kind of alarming in one respect I'm going straight on from uni to a full-time job, with only a one week break in between (good though, because I'd be lazy and content with finishing up uni). In fact, people who have exams in week 15 and 16 will still be at uni when I start working (thank god for media units :v:)

Thanks. Yeah, I figure that too. All throughout my university course, my only contact hours were lectures and tutorials/workshops... All the web design and development I had to undertake took place outside uni timetables (ie: at home). That usually led to me developing bad work habits, but with a full-time job and no essays from other units to worry about, I should be able to do great work. And yeah, the pay helps too :)

I'm not hiring anyone, they're hiring me. The designers they are using are brilliant artists but are not super familiar with commercial web design. They keep talking about re-inventing websites and using non-traditional layouts. All good talk, but their implementation is a little less than satisfying.
I'd post some of the other concept illustrations they have done which are PURE gold, but I don't have permission. Like seriously, these guys can outdraw all of us, they just need to start learning web design and stop using Illustrator to make websites (WHY DO SO MANY PEOPLE WITH GFX DESIGN DEGREES USE ILLUSTRATOR FOR WEBSITES!!!RANTRANTRANT!!)

Totally agree with you, like I said it was a 10 minute mockup. If they like it I'll put more effort into it. I have a feeling they'll think I'm moving into their territory though.

Count yourself lucky you got a job so quickly! There's nothing worse than months of inactivity after completing a degree. I graduated in July and most of the people I was at uni with are still looking for work.

They look all right for me on Chrome right now, and you're kind of missing the point. It's about having web safe fonts that can also be used for traditional print, where lots of different weights are useful.
