Looks really nice, but I think those button labels could stand out a bit more from their buttons, the contrast is a little bit low on them... Maybe either drop the backgrounds down a tint or two (0to255.com is great for that), or try making the drop shadows more apparent (particularly on the pinky red buttons), or perhaps even try changing the font colour (I'd wager white is still the best colour so it's just a matter of making it pop off the buttons a bit more).
what the fuck are you hiring said designer if you managed to make a design 10x better than there's in 10 minutes
It's usually a fair bit easier to modify a design where everything is already in place and with a fresh set of eyes (and a new perspective), you can go about improving the design. You of all people should realize this :v: - it's hard to start from scratch sometimes, as you demonstrated a few pages bak. One frustrating thing I find about design is that things generally never look right until you have everything on the page together. [editline]Oh yeah...[/editline] In unrelated news, I got a call back from the company that interviewed me last week, well... I got the job! :D I'll be starting next week, and it's a full time permanent position. My position on the team is (unsurprisingly) web designer, and I'll be responsible for an upcoming redesign (and redevelopment) the company is budgeting for. I'll be working with another developer who will be overhauling the back-end as I work on the front-end.

Good news on the job! Being paid makes you work even harder! :v:
holy fuck that is awesome
Yeah, heh. It's all happened pretty fast. My last week of uni was the week that just passed, and it's kind of alarming in one respect I'm going straight on from uni to a full-time job, with only a one week break in between (good though, because I'd be lazy and content with finishing up uni). In fact, people who have exams in week 15 and 16 will still be at uni when I start working (thank god for media units :v:) [editline]8th November 2011[/editline]
To be honest it was already dull to start with. adam just brightened it up. Good news on the job! Being paid makes you work even harder! :v:
Thanks. Yeah, I figure that too. All throughout my university course, my only contact hours were lectures and tutorials/workshops... All the web design and development I had to undertake took place outside uni timetables (ie: at home). That usually led to me developing bad work habits, but with a full-time job and no essays from other units to worry about, I should be able to do great work. And yeah, the pay helps too :)
You need to update your intro paragraph on your website now.
You need to update your intro paragraph on your website now.
Haha you read my mind :v: I think I'll work on that copy a bit more before I update it on my actual site..
Ouch... I checked out HotCopper and you have a hell of a lot of work a head of you! Good luck. :v:
Dear god, it reminds me of GoDaddy

Awesome! Congratz. [editline]8th November 2011[/editline]
what the fuck are you hiring said designer if you managed to make a design 10x better than there's in 10 minutes
I'm not hiring anyone, they're hiring me. The designers they are using are brilliant artists but are not super familiar with commercial web design. They keep talking about re-inventing websites and using non-traditional layouts. All good talk, but their implementation is a little less than satisfying. I'd post some of the other concept illustrations they have done which are PURE gold, but I don't have permission. Like seriously, these guys can outdraw all of us, they just need to start learning web design and stop using Illustrator to make websites (WHY DO SO MANY PEOPLE WITH GFX DESIGN DEGREES USE ILLUSTRATOR FOR WEBSITES!!!RANTRANTRANT!!)
Totally agree with you, like I said it was a 10 minute mockup. If they like it I'll put more effort into it. I have a feeling they'll think I'm moving into their territory though.
Time to prove yourself BrettJay Throw him into the pit [sp]so that he may redesign it, it's really 'blah', disorganized too[/sp] Edit: Fixed jQuery issues The K is temporary until I can find another typeface for it Very simple content system right now, it'll hopefully pop a bit more when I get the content and page background done
I accidentally spilt a full of cup of water over my Macbook Pro, blowing it up and corrupting all of the stuff on my hard drive. I don't have backups and I don't have enough money to buy a new laptop. :downs:

There's nothing worse than months of inactivity after completing a degree. I graduated in July and most of the people I was at uni with are still looking for work.
Pro versions of Georgia and Verdana: http://georgiaverdana.com/
Too bad pretty much all embedded fonts look awful in Chrome at the moment, when Google finally add anti-aliasing like nearly every other browser it'll be so much better.
Too bad pretty much all embedded fonts look awful in Chrome at the moment, when Google finally add anti-aliasing like nearly every other browser it'll be so much better.
They look all right for me on Chrome right now, and you're kind of missing the point. It's about having web safe fonts that can also be used for traditional print, where lots of different weights are useful.

Damnit. Firefox 8 was just released and it's fucked up for me right now. Nothing will load at all and then it crashes.
