wikipedia for ipod?
What exactly is Wikipod, Terabytes?
The original idea was to create a tool to browse Wikipedia articles as a network of related (the strength of the relationships was based on the number of times the name of another article appears on the current) subjects displayed as blocks linked by a line in a 2D space. Then I realized that a thing such as this wouldn't be very special nor interesting for two reasons, the first being that browsing through the network wouldn't be much more pleasant than browsing the real Wikipedia since the articles are long and the links to other articles, which would be displayed both inside the article, as links, and around the article, as blocks, would be too distracting and would impair the reader's ability to focus the page by shifting their attention and possibly making them switch to another article before reaching the important parts of the current. The second reason was a practical one: It'd be quite hard to display an active network of articles where the current article was maximized in size and take up quite a lot of screen real-estate and the secondary articles were to be placed around the current one and be accessible at all times (even when scrolling through the article): if I wanted them to be on the screen at all time I'd have to limit the number of articles displayed; if I wanted a great number of articles to be shown in the network, the user would have to scroll through the page to access them. Because of that I decided to change the scope of the project a little and make Wikipod a simpler, more streamlined and (hopefully) more attractive way to browse Wikipedia articles, by removing the unneeded clutter and keeping only the important information. A thing similar to the concept of article networks should stay in the final thing (even though in a different form), as a list of the most important articles relative to the current page, for fast access. The whole idea came out of the fact that I usually find myself browsing through Wikipedia and opening all of the articles I see and think they could be interesting to read in new tabs, and end up stopping to read one in favor of another. This tool should encourage reading one article and then, if one wants it, hopping to the most interesting article they see in the list.
Ive been working on this. Its my second day of using php. http://rtmxbeastx.com/donate.php

http://rtmxbeastx.com/donate.php
list-style-type:none; and add some padding/line-height jesus [editline]28th November 2011[/editline] oh it's just that you designed it for firefox and nothing else cool
Sorry about all that. Ill get round to fixing it for other browsers tomorrow.
snippas
or you could just not use em for everything as each browser renders it differently
Do you understand the concept of em? [editline]28th November 2011[/editline]
Sorry about all that. Ill get round to fixing it for other browsers tomorrow.
That background is really distracting and those outlines are pretty brash, too, dudeski.
or you could just not use em for everything as each browser renders it differently
Technically it would be each platform renders it differently due to discrepancies in font rendering, but I get your point.
http://jung3o.com/!-!/math If you've taken algebra 2 and remember standard form and y-intercept form... It's a shame it doesn't simplify.
so I made this I've not made it for any particular reason, just a design exercise because I suck at it. I don't know how the hell I'm going to rebuild this for the web though...
Too many different kinds of drop shadows. Also, you should almost never center-align blocks of text, it's hard to read. Also, the phones are too close to the header and too big. They attract too much attention. Also, I'd consider making the phones overlap the dark area below slightly. The contrasting color makes the eye think it's a separate area unrelated to what's above. Some subtle separating lines between the three columns below might also help.
If you've taken algebra 2 and remember standard form and y-intercept form...
i've done maths methods and i have no idea what standard form is. all i know is y=mx+c
i've done maths methods and i have no idea what standard form is. all i know is y=mx+c
hmm.. Well, it's Ax+By=C
Nice action on these CSS buttons http://bergcloud.com/
Nice action on these CSS buttons http://bergcloud.com/
when you click it and move your mouse away, it stays in "action" form
when you click it and move your mouse away, it stays in "action" form
Except for the newsletter signup button. Odd. But still, sort that problem out and they're rather nice.
i've done maths methods and i have no idea what standard form is. all i know is y=mx+c
I thought y=mx+c was completely unrelated with standard form I should probably know this, I have a linear exam next week
I thought y=mx+c was completely unrelated with standard form I should probably know this, I have a linear exam next week
m = slope, c/b = y-int y = mx+b -mx -mx+y=b this is what standard form is but, for it to be a standard form: A(Ax+By=C) has to be positive integer
are we thinking of a different standard form? I thought standard from was 0.6543x10^7 kind of stuff
are we thinking of a different standard form? I thought standard from was 0.6543x10^7 kind of stuff
probably not. [editline]29th November 2011[/editline] http://courses.wccnet.edu/~palay/precalc/22mt01.htm
probably not. [editline]29th November 2011[/editline] http://courses.wccnet.edu/~palay/precalc/22mt01.htm
yeah I haven't been taught that, I'm guessing it's not a part of our curriculum I look like a bit of a tool now
Science, please don't use those horrid gradients.
Heheh, I promised I wouldn't come back to Facepunch until I finished. Then I didn't come back for over a year. www.yangki.com
Not that thrilled with Lithium so far. They emailed me my password in plaintext.
Not that thrilled with Lithium so far. They emailed me my password in plaintext.
Blame that on WHCMS.
Not that thrilled with Lithium so far. They emailed me my password in plaintext.
I have used them for about 5 months now. Fastest support I have seen from a shared host, and its literally a steal for 1$/month.
Critique? And any ideas on what I should do with the 'logo'?
I like jquery :v: http://jung3o.com/!-!/math/stand_yint.php nothing works. I was having fun with jquery (those radio)
Heheh, I promised I wouldn't come back to Facepunch until I finished. Then I didn't come back for over a year. www.yangki.com
Wow, that's hardcore. Well done.
Blame that on WHCMS.
whcms stores all passwords in plaintext iirc [editline]30th November 2011[/editline]
are we thinking of a different standard form? I thought standard from was 0.6543x10^7 kind of stuff
that's scientific notation
Everything I design and code a few days later I think is utter fucking shit and start from scratch again. I've gone through 4 designs and code iterations of my school management system. I feel like I'm just going in circles.
