I'm currently setting up a small business.
I'm completely clueless as to how to set a website up.
Can anyone lend me a hand?
Animated snow? Oh look, we're back in 1995.

When in Rome, do as the Romans do, I guess.
Instead of geo-IP you could probably do it with javascript (get their local datestamp, compare to the one provided by the link 'owner').
That would work on the actual website but if you embedded a dynamic graphic that changes depending on the requestee's IP you couldn't use JS then.

Someone should try and make this...

Nice, the animated snow completely fucks the site when you're using Opera. Can't click on any links.
Just finished creating a teaser page for an upcoming Minecraft RPG server. The theme is supposed to be adventurous.
Link: http://pewcraft.net
I would like your know your opinions on it, just tell me if there is anything I should change. I personally am iffy about the logo, I think it needs to have more of a Minecrafty feeling to it. The background seems to fit in my opinion.
It's even worse on an android tablet, arrgh.
Alright guys, I've got two art styles battling it out here.
Which one should win?

If anyone is good with htaccess here, it would help me greatly!
I have some requests in a url like the following;
file.php?one=[first]&two=[second]&three=[third]&four=[fourth]
I'd like to turn that so the requests are like;
first/second/third/fourth/
I've been messing around for a while but I am terrible with htaccess, if anyone could help, that'd be great.
Soooooo.... my teacher doesn't know jQuery so he makes me teach it to the others in my class, then he takes over and suggests to use $(elem).attr({attrname: 'attrval'}); instead of $(elem).attr('attrname', 'attrval'); for a single attribute, I correct him saying that it would be better if, for a single attribute, the second method were used and he rages at me saying that i teach them bad practice and lead them out of the right way of doing things.

Fuck.

Oh and my classmates told me that I'm a better teacher than the actual teacher and that I'm way more helpful with their issues than him.
-snip-
what a weird bracket >.>
Edit
This is where tables come along :v:

Same here funnily enough.
Would be nice if our teachers actually taught the students...

Double elimination.
why do the gay snowflakes crash the whole site in opera?
Can't even browse the site on my iPhone with these flakes
I really gotta work on improving my design skills, I can implement things fine, but making it look good? such a freakin' chalange for me.

Hey, I'm from Michigan!
Love the look of the page. It looks very professional, great job!
why do the gay snowflakes crash the whole site in opera?
Because opera sees the canvas element as a whole object while the other browsers just see the projections as elements, hence why you can click through them on Chrome, Firefox and IE but not Opera.
It's a nice script though which garry's using as the base, I've taken my own spin at it using the original on TF2R except unlike garry, I've layered it under my content so it works with Opera.

You have the option to disable Javascript in Safari, right?
Thankfully the stock Android browser lets me do that.

So I
... what did I even do
Yeah the idea is that the content boxes are aligned to the grid of the background so it looks all nice and integrated, which is probably going to be ridiculous/nigh impossible to get working cross-browser (this is only a mockup.)
The central content area will use its own scrollbar, with the gradient at the top/bottom when scrolled away from them to smooth the cutoff of content. The tweetbox will do the same - if more than 50% of the last tweet will fit, it'll show the gradient over the cutoff, if less than 50% will fit, it omits it, and will show as many tweets as this will fit (up to 6, since I feel that's reasonable and I don't want to be fetching more than needed.) My tweets are usually long (those are in fact the two most recent) anyway.
PT Sans/PT Serif only. Probably my two favorite fonts, and not like I'm a typographer anyway.
Plan B: I'll scrap this and make something more practical that doesn't violate any logical usability rules! Ha ha the second part will never happen
Then again that amount of content space is more than enough given how much of any use I actually have to say.

A almost fully functioning pocketSteam, which is designed for mobile devices! You can now change state, view friends and send/receive messages. The only thing missing now is notifications and then I can release it fully.
Demo is at http://dev.pocketsteam.com/
Can you do group chats with pocketSteam?
not currently

Oh cool, you're the one who made it. I used to use it for a while a few years ago. That browse button always bothered me like hell.
