It seems that qfi.im is not into google pagerank. How do I get it in?
[QUOTE=TheBigS;31268418]I agree with TerabyteS on most everything. For some reason though, I feel like the noise on the top bar wouldn't look as weird if you did add some kind of nature related photo (thinking Biovitals is some kind of nature themed website judging by the name and the use of green, I could be completely wrong) in the background. At the moment the green you're using for the background (with the noise) doesn't compliment the green you're using for the section titles which is what I first noticed. Also, definitely add some images like people have already said. :)[/QUOTE] Since I don't have any pictures yet from the client: [url]http://i.imgur.com/50Xet.jpg[/url]
[QUOTE=Crhem van der B;31269311]Since I don't have any pictures yet from the client: [url]http://i.imgur.com/50Xet.jpg[/url][/QUOTE] That's definitely better, I would increase the line spacing to 150 or 200% and change the font to something more modern looking rather than verdana. The arial is okay I guess but I definitely think you should change the heading font
[QUOTE=TerabyteS_;31269226]It seems that qfi.im is not into google pagerank. Hello, I dont seem to see anybody using coldfusion. is there any reason to it? id love to know.
Because the server costs $1,299 and there are free alternatives with significantly more active developer communities and more widespread support out there.
[QUOTE=Crhem van der B;31269311]Since I don't have any pictures yet from the client: [url]http://i.imgur.com/50Xet.jpg[/url][/QUOTE]Please use IMG tags, makes it easier for us to have a look. Here's some more feedback. Rather than going for something like [code]image text image text[/code] try doing something like this: [quote][img]http://www.gabrielecirulli.com/p/20110722-191942.png[/img][/quote] (lousy Word example there) Just float the picture to the right, make sure it's small enough and you're done. Also, the paragraph heading text could use a bigger size than the current. It needs to be given some importance. Right now it's hard to notice, and if you can't see a heading you don't know what you're reading about. Also, as I said before (you didn't seem to change it), the white content box needs more margin (around double the current amount). Right now it looks cramped, and cramped stuff is hard to read. Try setting line-height: 150%; on paragraphs inside the content box, that should make it more readable too. Lastly, the light green background ruins the whole thing in my opinion. Either use white or a more suitable green. I'd suggest white, since you've already got too much green in your design. Oh, and the top bar could use a lighter design. Try setting the page background to white as I suggested above and set the bar to this color: [url]http://0to255.com/6cba66[/url] One more thing, if you're using a border under the navbar (looks like a grey border to me), try using this instead: text-shadow: box-shadow: 0px 1px 7px rgba(0,0,0,0.5);
First of all, thanks Terabytes. I agree on some things, but not all. I like the light green background and think it fitting. Same for the dark header, IMO a light one doesn't looks so good. I changed the line height and added more padding and indeed it looks much better. Regarding the "border" of the header - it's actually a 0 0 5px #888 box shadow. Here are the changes with some of your recommendations: (I prefer not to put in IMG tags because it's just too big and rather not stretch the page with no reason) [url]http://i.imgur.com/spjGB.jpg[/url]
The titles appear 1 pixel off on my browser, but It might just because of the browser, there's a tiny bit of anti-aliasing which makes it seem 1 pixel off. [img]http://i.imgur.com/YqPhU.png[/img]

If you don't post it as an image it will be harder for you to get somebody to see it and give you feedback. [editline]22nd July 2011[/editline] Also, I think you need to increase the vertical padding, now the horizontal and vertical paddings look off, they need to be homogeneous. Also you should make sure the pictures you use take up half of the width (or even less) of your paragraph, not more. Yours is taking up quite too much space thus giving an unpleasant effect. Edit: If possible, take pictures as png, not jpeg. The artifacts might be misleading and make it harder for us to see the correct aspect of the page. Would be even better if you could actually link us to the html version.
[QUOTE=Vietnow;31275304]It's an image...[/QUOTE] :suicide:
According to Chrome now the vertical and horizontal padding is the same, but according to my eyes it's not: [url]http://bio.crembo.eu/[/url]
[QUOTE=Crhem van der B;31276469]According to Chrome now the vertical and horizontal padding is the same, but according to my eyes it's not: [url]http://bio.crembo.eu/[/url][/QUOTE]It's fine now. Add some spacing between the heading and the first paragraph. Like 1 or 2 lines. 1.5 maybe (1.5em) [editline]22nd July 2011[/editline] Also add spacing between elements in the navbar, you really don't want this to happen: [img]http://gabrielecirulli.com/p/20110722-234008.png[/img] [editline]22nd July 2011[/editline] I took the liberty to modify your page more to my personal taste, here's what I came up with. See if you like it. [thumb]http://gabrielecirulli.com/p/20110722-235711.png[/thumb] I've used the chrome dev tools, so I don't know a way to export the css I have created from it. If there's a way, please let me know. [editline]22nd July 2011[/editline] Ok I've found a way to export it, here it is [url]http://pastebin.com/V9dsTjqR[/url] I've changed and tweaked many things, also if you want to use it make sure all text-shadow attributes conform because I've only updated the ones relative to chrome.
[QUOTE=RusselG;31258340]Well since I'm a lazy slob at PHP, I whipped up something in 1 minute. Literally. [url]http://russel.comlu.com/insults/[/url] I found it funny :v: [editline]lol[/editline] That text colour for the centre text is terrible. Needs to be darker.[/QUOTE] [IMG]http://i.imgur.com/FPMTG.png[/IMG] [url]http://russel.comlu.com/insults/info.php?name=%3Cscript%3Ealert%28String.fromCharCode%2883%2C+84%2C+73%2C+76%2C+76%2C+32%2C+86%2C+85%2C+76%2C+78%2C+69%2C+82%2C+65%2C+66%2C+76%2C+69%29%29%3C%2Fscript[/url]
How'd you export it? I want to know too!
Also, after comparing your version to mine I think (mind this is just a personal opinion) better suited for the kind of product/service you're trying to advertise because it has clearer and more lively colors, which are better associated to the word BIO and give a fresh and healthy feeling on the page. [editline]22nd July 2011[/editline] [QUOTE=anton;31277267]How'd you export it? I want to know too![/QUOTE]Go in the resources tab, expand the last entry (or something like that) and you should see a bunch if entries with date and time. Those are the changes you've made. Pick the top one (most recent) and copy it.
I actually really like that Terabytes. Thanks again. I'll see which colour scheme better fits the client after he sends me his logo (the current logo is just a placeholder). Thanks again for all the help - I really appreciate it.
I'm making a CMS. [img]http://i.imgur.com/m3qMD.png[/img] I chose this name because of how I'm structuring things: everything is a bloc(k) - you have multiple block types, multiple blocks with different content, different dependencies, origins and rules, but at it's core, 99% of the content lives in these blocks. While certainly not a novel concept, I believe it's an interesting approach to take right from the start - plugins/modules work in and with blocks, pages are made out of blocks, etc etc etc. I'm also aiming to make the whole thing aimed especially at developers - for every front-end administration panel and feature, there's a matching easy-to-use underlying API that isn't a pain in the ass to work with. Thoughts/suggestions? [editline]23rd July 2011[/editline] Oh, and yes, pixel fonts.

Although I think you should make the icon have fewer 'pixels' per section
Interesting stuff for interesting people: [url]http://harvesthq.github.com/chosen/[/url] Javascript plugin for combo boxes that makes them easy to search.

I still prefer the top one. What happens when you scale that one down as it is? [editline]23rd July 2011[/editline] [QUOTE=Alcapwne;31279077]I like the 3rd one best :)[/QUOTE] Bleh. Worst of the four imo.
Ok, last time I'm posting this, I think I have a winner: [img]http://i.imgur.com/P2PnH.png[/img] yay/nay? lettering needs some tweaking, still.

Earlier today I setup an Ubuntu server (which'll probably be CentOS or w/e later) in VirtualBox that has Apache, MySQL, PHP, and OpenSSH. I'd thought that I should try some other languages/frameworks and tried CodeIgniter, and it was ok but kind of weird, and now I'm trying Ruby On Rails with the [url=http://railsforzombies.org]Rails for Zombies[/url], and it's pretty nice since it's interactive, so after I complete them, I'll probably be writing it in RoR. I might still try .NET (specifically C#).

Ok, now I [b]promise[/b] this is the last one. Final version (...atleast for now...): [img]http://i.imgur.com/u9peY.png[/img]
