Using Google storage as a CDN is really good. This got me thinking - could I use Google App Engine as a cloudflare like caching layer as Google's infrastructure is both lightning fast and highly replicated (unlike amazon where you have to pick which region you want content to be served from it is replicated across multiple data centre.). A system like cloudflare works when the majority of requests aren't session-dependant (dunno why Gary uses it on Facepunch since vast majority of requests cannot be cached). Since the vast majority of requests to my site aren't linked to a session (or have POST data) it would increase the speed of my site (only slightly because phpFog is pretty fast anyway). In fact the only requests that aren't cache-able are when people are submitting forms and when I am logged in to the admin panel. I use disqus for comments so the html of the page doesn't change when someone submits a comment. The only issues that I can think of (apart from it being quite a lot of work to get right) is file uploads (how can I pass the file on - I an't find the relevant docs in the documentation for GAE).

I've had Spiders Design for a few years now and am redesigning my site and thought that it may be time to rebrand with something more appropriate. This is the result of my brainstorm: WP Island Volcanic WP Tectonic WP BTW the reason behind the WP is WordPress and the volcanic theme is because my new site will have a volcano in the background (erupts in webkit browser) and all of my frameworks are stuff like: lava, magma, ash etc.
