And it doesn't matter that the guy wasn't part of the staff, you still got someone to do it for you and that means you're a fool.

I'm writing a design document for an touristic website for Italy where people can advertise their own touristic facilities (restaurants, hotels, etc.).
I've decided to join the browse and search page together: when you enter the page you see the best offers in the whole country and you get a panel where you can add filters to narrow the results, like adding a filter for a determinate geographic area or for a determinate type of facility.
Now, the homepage is the problem. Currently, I've planned having an introductory paragraph on it, along with a panel containing a set of offers (picked randomly every time from the entire offers pool) and, at the side, a smaller panel listing last time offers (a special feature of this website).
What should I do to give more value to the home page? I was thinking about adding a little search bar right after the introductory text.
Who was the guy from FP that found an exploit in PHP with a certain constant? Was it one of turb's alts? Does anyone have that topic handy?
Not done with this yet, still gonna add more just not sure what.

I'm working on a small website for a SA-MP server but my design fucking sucks, any ideas or tips on improvement?

That's a lot of white space you have there.
For some unknown reason I didn't get a Battlefield 3 alpha invite - anyone get one and willing to sell code?

This place would be the best to ask at: http://www.facepunch.com/threads/1097783-Battlefield-3-v3-Now-with-questions
And its not really worth it as it ends on the 1st of August

I'm stuck here. It's for a gaming community website. I really don't know what to change to make it look good.
On Monday I start a new part time job/business partnership. I'll be doing web design and development on some internal tools for a company that helps businesses buy and maintain google ad campaigns. I'll be doing that for the first 3 or so hours of the day which will be time that I'm on the clock and paid hourly, and the rest of the day will be mine to work on other projects in what will be my new free office space.
The guy I'm working with already has 4-5 sales people who come in and cold call other businesses every day so they will also be pitching web sites and sending new web clients my way.
After we get the ball rolling we'll be doing business development and building other products/services that his sales team can pitch to new and existing clients.
Assuming things get going at a good pace I will have my own team of people working under me relatively soon too :]
Need a 1000pxish CSS grid. Suggestions? I usually use 978, blueprint or 960 but I want to make a bit wider site today.

Sounds similar to what I do! Enjoy!
Doesn't anyone have ideas for what I made a few posts up? I am really stuck here :v:

It looks pretty neat, but doesn't really show gaming at all, but I'm not sure how you could show that it's a gaming website without the content
I'd increase the spacing between the letters on the navigation bar thing where it says 'Home' or change the font, because it looks cramped compared to the openness shown by the rest of the design

Just make your own grid, (modify http://csswizardry.com/inuitcss/ IMO)

Yeah pretty close. I've talked to him about the fact that I eventually want to be running my own creative agency and he's very interested in do everything he can to help that happen too. He's talking about not only giving me my own office space in the office he rents (not just a cube for me either hehehe), but actually renting the office across the hall and calling that mine.
I fell in to a fucking awesome opportunity here. He's got exactly the skills/resources to bring to the table that I have been wanting/needing, and I've got exactly what he needs. It's a win win win win win win situation haha.

Get rid of any opacity on the main content section. Also, make it white but with a navbar at the top to differentiate between the phoenix and the rest of your content.

Looks like I went back to the old design. Well, I don't want to spam this thread with little changes. All suggestions are still welcome.
