Also this website is a remake of this one, http://www.pocketitaly.it/en/ which is one of the most awful websites ever made (the company who made it claims to be professional, but just have a look at their website to change your own mind http://www.mediaticamente.it/ )
Honestly not that bad. I've had to deal with far far far worse. The companies website isn't awful either, it's just flash.
That said, I'm guessing their one of those design chop shops where they just spit stuff out without really polishing it. In any case, you'll surely do a better job.
There's now official proof that internet explorer users are dumbasses:

I just found out about opera mini for iPhone. To be honest it actually looks great, and the scrolling is way better than safari.
[editline]29th July 2011[/editline]
Ok well some things are good, some are bad. I hope it would be possible to merge together all the good things from all browsers

The designers block has been well and truly hit. I would be very grateful of any ideas for the content area! I plan to use the majority on a featured project window but I have no real idea on how to lay it out.
You should be figuring out your content layout before you even start doing visual design.
You should be figuring out your content layout before you even start doing visual design.
I did actually do that initially however after building up the visuals it just doesn't seem to fit right anymore. Which gets me to this point now.

browser choice has nothing to do with iq, it's just if someone's tech-savvy then they aren't going to be dumb.

Now that I've finished my game, I'm back to the web dev thing for a little bit. Right now I'm re-designing the Ironswine header. CC welcome :D.

Not bad, definite improvements being made over the old version.
● I think the login field should be on the far right, where the Home/Games/Blog/Forums is.
● I'm not too fond of the way you're mixing serifs and sans-serifs; well, I guess it's only the main site nav (Home, Games, Blog, Forums) that is stylzed with a sans-serif font. Probably should be one or the other.
● I'd consider putting the search field in the same line as the game categories, and the main navigation under the logo; try reducing the size/spacing of each game category element if necessary; a search field and those categories could fit comfortably within 960px, plus, since the category menu is specifically related to games, a search field makes sense there as well.
● The main drawback of the new version is the header past the logo; you've got 3 different panels crammed into that space. While navigation at the top right is rather conventional, I think being in such close proximity to the login and search fields is throwing my brain off or something.
Overall, good work, definitely improved over the old version, but just a bit too cluttered now.

I'm not sure whether you and Erp missed my obvious joke, but I'm going to err on the side of caution and just conclude browsers are a very polarizing topic, or maybe using Opera is just one of those things you just don't joke about, I don't know :v:
I still must rate you disagree for using that browser!

Yep.
That's some serious overuse of rounded corners.

I'll set up a copy of it on my server soon but it won't be able to handle many people running it at once.
There's one thing I don't understand about random salting. If I use a random salt to hash every password, how am I supposed it to know it later? Should I store it together with the hashed password? Or should I use pseudo-random salts chosen based on the input password (like use the md5 of the input password as a salt before hashing again)?
Then it means you're doing it wrong.
I would have to disagree, taking a site from the transition of an initial concept layout with a simple 'blueprint' to a fully built up site in terms of design is anything but a black and white process in my opinion. Perhaps I am over critical of the design layouts I suggested to myself for this site design in particular, but upon actually building the design, the layouts which were initially planned didn't seem to fit the design right. I'm not going to beat around the bush, I aren't really a great lover of wire-frames and I pretty much agree with the views put forward in this blog post - http://www.attackofdesign.com/why-wireframes-can-hurt-your-project/ . I think a quick sketch can be fine, but I have seen people trawl for hours over wire-framing and I just don't see how its a valuable use of time, if you are working with clients, chances are that the wire-frame initially designed will reflect very little of the final project.
I find that ultimately with wire-frames you end up going back over your design trying to adjust it just to make it fit. I'm not saying don't have any form of layout and just have your elements float around the page in no real order, I just don't think its such a necessity to set yourself on a layout so early on.
I don't really think you can say to anyone 'you're doing it wrong.' every designer has there own way of doing things, I know you like to wire-frame your sites Tera personally I don't value that so highly as yourself as a process, doesn't mean you're doing it wrong in my eyes though. I think its wrong to try and make designers follow these processes set in stone. Its not how the world of art and media operates.
In my opinion some of the best web designs I have seen don't fit into neat little wire-framed boxes.

make a mysql table that contains that random salt with the user account
