Do any of you have some sample code to check if a TF2-server is up or not? It can be in any language, I'll just translate it to Ruby. Do you just ping the server or do you check if it's up in some other strange way?
Been meaning to post this. First design I've actually tried to finish.

Mainly looking for CC. Anything I could improve on.
Thanks in advanced!

Align the center of your navigation links with the center of your logo, I'm also not a fan of content text being centered like that either, but that is up to you really.

See if you can create a udp socket to the source server port.
Final design for the developer preview:

I'm a little dissatisfied with having to use HTML5 for those text box comments (it's awesome and all but it's not exactly browser friendly) but other than that and the colors (which I'm leaving in just to annoy :awesome:) it'll do for a developer preview.

Good luck getting visitors if you keep that color scheme though, no offence but that just seriously hurts my eyes.

I have no intention of keeping the current color scheme (or for that matter the branding)
Maybe it'd be better at connect.facepun.ch.

16px grid, undo everything, yadda yadda.
Note: the greyed out building follows the cursor as a 'preview'.
I just lost hours of work on gradstr because I am a fucking moron and I don't keep backups, and I overwrote my css file and I can't undo it
fucking incredible

I've done that before and managed to recover the stylesheet from Chrome's cache, worth a shot.
If you can find it in about:cache and PM it me, I can get the file back into it's original format for you.
Hexxeh recovered it for me, thank you SO MUCH Hexxeh

No worries, Chrome cache is handy like that.

So, I've got like maybe a couple days at max to throw together some user experience guidelines for our new site, color schemes, and etc.
Please wish me the best, and I'll stop in for critique, of course. :ohdear:

It looks awfully big (length wise). How does it look on screens that are of smaller size (for example my 1280x1024 monitor.) I guess it includes lots of horizontal scrolling?

I couldn't think of a proper name and I put 2 and 2 together, I thought I heard it before though :v:. Besides, it's for my HSC Major and as far as I know, the name shouldn't really matter. That being said however, if I come up with a fitting name I will change it.

Seeing as you are using Chrome/Chromium you can use Web Developer and then resize it from the toolbar icon then resize.
Sup web dev, been lurking for a while so guess I should post something.
Been working on a server monitoring tool that pings a server at set intervals and returns the status (online/offline) and ping (ms). I'm gonna throw in a few google charts too to make it look a bit more interesting. It's slow progress as this is my first project learning object oriented php. I hope to add e-mail and possibly SMS alerts later on.

how do you get it to ping at set intervals?

Not entirely sure yet, might do a cronjob which points to a php script.

Hmm, so this is interesting.. Adobe Flash killed by HTML5 by... Adobe themselves? [sp]I don't necessarily believe Flash is actually going to die, just interesting Adobe is producing a tool which conflicts with their obvious interests in maintaining the Flash platform[/sp]

[thumb]http://cdn.macrumors.com/article-new/2011/08/adobe_edge_screenshot.jpg[/thumb]
Adobe® Edge is a new web motion and interaction design tool that allows designers to bring animated content to websites, using web standards like HTML5, JavaScript, and CSS3.
Edge will be updated regularly to add new functionality, stay ahead of evolving web standards, and incorporate user feedback to provide the best functionality and experience possible. This is an early look at Edge with more capabilities to come.

Looks kind of like Adobe After Effects but exporting HTML5/CSS3/Javascript animations... Now that's an interesting idea.

I think the logo design itself is pretty much settled, although the kerning on the "y" needs to be played with a bit I think.
