It's not THAT bad, just that the dark blue should probably be an accent to the white as opposed to the other way around. Not to say you should just swap the white and blue, that would be silly. Don't do that.

....if you're Helen Keller.
i heard you like purple
Purple? That colour is blue - and don't argue I just checked its HEX. It is far closer to "blue" than "purple". Colour blindness really isn't great if you want to design stuff.

Colours: blue, your colour, purple

Are you trying to be Deus Ex or TF2's Deus Ex items?
Its purely just for TF2 rather than anything more niche.

You can't categorise colours so blatently, his colour is closer to a lilac colour and lilac is closer to a purple colour than it is to a blue colour.
In my opinion it's more blue-ish rather than purple-ish.
ITT: People arguing if color is blue or purple.
That shouldn't hurt peoples eyes.
I don't think they'll need surgery but it sure won't be fun
arguing on whether it's blue or not is like when people decide to pick apart your grammar because they can't think of a decent argument to fight you with
i'll just remove the damn stylesheet if you guys are going to argue about it
[editline]1st September 2011[/editline]
what the hell should i do to it then
You all seem to miss the fact that people have different brightness and contrast settings on their monitors. So if it looks purple to you it might look blue to me.

On the school computer it seems purple, but when i get on home computer it's blue :suicide:
WHAT REALLY IS IT.

I officially hate adblock users with a passion now who use TF2R.
Finally started learning CSS in my XHTML class! I don't have anything to show, but I just wanted to get that out there.
CSS is very powerful...now I just need to come up with a layout design for my student webpage.

Except blue is a defined colour and so is purple.

Well they should calibrate. You shouldn't design anything if your display isn't calibrated properly.
Hi guys.
What features would you want in your ideal IDE?
Please give examples of current IDEs (if any) that implement your desired features. I'm considering making an open source IDE for windows that will initially just support html / css (and LESS - with a built in compiler) and PHP.
It will support CSS3 and HTML5 stuff and use chrome to render previews (so you can use the chrome inspector from within the application). There will be the option to "transfer changes" which will automatically copy the changes that you made in the chrome inspector into the LESS file. It will have built in GIT support and will work well with github.

personally, I develop / design really quite minimally, sublime text + a linux shell and I'm set. I hate it when applications I'm using get in the way of what I want to do.
Working on a site for someone on facepunch, here's the design so far:

(the big image is gonna be a slideshow sort of thing)
He wanted it to look professional and businessy, and it's for a consultancy firm of some sort
What do you guys think?

Is that the HTML/CSS product or just a mockup?
Is that the HTML/CSS product or just a mockup?
just a mock-up at the moment, I should be converting it to HTML/CSS once I get the go ahead from the client

if you remember it was originally green, but you didn't like that!
The website I'm currently working on ( http://mastersrp.kodingen.com/site/Community ) uses a CMS (drupal 7.8) which is licensed under the GPL. Does this mean I have to release the entire site code under the GPL, or how does that work?

Just did the code for that site:

Why is the right end of the affiliates column not lined up with the right end of the left column of the second featured category?
Justified text is horrible for readability on the web when used with no hyphenation and short lines like that. Those huge rivers look icky.
Not too fond of the centered headings for the content areas either. They feel a little disconnected to me.
the background disconnects

Thanks for the feedback,
How would I make the justify decent?
I didn't really want the columns in the top box to line up with the columns inside the second box, because the top columns are two independent boxes whereas the bottom columns are columns within one box if you get what I mean.
Where would you suggest I put the headings for the content areas? Left-aligned perhaps?
Thanks
the background disconnects
Yeah I couldn't figure out how to work around that without losing the gradient in the background, any ideas?
I'd make it left aligned and then find a javascript solution to do the hyphenation automatically for you and have the same bit of javascript enable the justification (so that only users who get the hyphenation see the justified text)
The headings will help distinguish between the two boxes so I don't think it's necessary to do it with a larger gap.
Yeah I'd left align the headings.
