Fucking love it. Inspiring.

I think my eyes got severely damaged in the making of this, I totally need to tone down that red. (still not done yet with the content of that box, will add some pictures and a button)

Anyone used django's templating system before? I'm not using django but Google app engine implements it.
How could I do the equivalent to:
{% if page.slug in environment.path %}active{% endif %}
Basically sets the class of an element in the navigation to active if the slug for that page (page.slug) is in the current path. It doesn't look like it supports in as an operator in the version that GAE implements (does in latest version of django). And before someone suggests I cannot just see if they match because the url could be http://domain.com/slug/sub so "slug/" wouldn't match "slug/sub".

I'm terrible at web design. Considering just scrapping the entire design and starting over without shoehorning in bootstrap at the last moment. Opinions?

Good to see you back in web dev!
On another note - why the fuck does GAE return the path as a tuple (aka - pain in the ass to do anything with without making it a string)
black and dark blue never go together in terms of readability. Looks like currently everything apart from the logo is done in html/css, its hard to achieve a good design using these two things alone. Its kinda like high and low level languages, photoshop would 'bloat' your site (not saying this is a problem though), but you can achieve a 'better' looking site more easily in my opinion where as styling through CSS and HTML would probably be more efficient but far harder to achieve a deseriable site design.
There is ofcourse other factors that come into play such as your level of experience with design packages such as photoshop, but I am talking on a very general basis.

I could understand it if it split it by forward slash - but it doesn't so it is like an array that only ever has one element - who thought that was a good idea?

Also if I do:
if dict["key"]:
do_something()
where "key" doesn't exist it evaluates to true (sometimes) - it isn't even consistent. Python is really weird.
No python code highlighting - what is this?

God knows how many times I've seen this picture (and how old it is), it still makes me laugh.
So anyway, I haven't really been working on anything! But, I've managed to find a intern placement, and I have a interview in a few days time.
The icons gave me a hard time.

I did my good deed for today and made a girl who used IE 7 switch to Firefox. Feels good.
Those icons look nice! It's coming along real nice now, good stuff!
Not much going on for me, re-working the entire battle system for PK Russet to 1. use memcache and 2. be setup so PVP is 99% complete already (only the battle request system will need to be built)

Considering they've probably paid for this, I somewhat feel like asking to be paid is a legitimate request.

Tera,
I think it's pretty iffy asking to get paid after you have already started working on the project under the assuption it would be for free. Sure, there's no harm in asking, but don't be surprised if they say "we want it free or we don't want it".
This one
Oh, thank you, it's very nice to hear that.

Fortunately, I never said anything about giving it to them for free or not, so maybe when I'm done with it and they ask if they can use it, I could ask them to pay for it. Still sounds a bit wonky, but giving away this kind of work for free is not good either.

Sometimes when in situations similar I ask them to pay what they think it is worth. Sometimes I get more than I would have hoped and sometimes less - but that way it seems better.
Anyone heard anything about these windows 8 html5 apps? I want to know if you can sell them through the Microsoft store or whether they have to be free (I hope you can sell them).

i thought it was going to be free anyways.
i thought it was going to be free anyways.
I don't think I ever said that, anyway if they want to use it I really hope they find a way to reward this work and not go "thank you for your time kthxbye" because that'd be really offensive.
[editline]8th September 2011[/editline]
To be honest, I'm not even sure whether they'll actually want to use it or not. In case they don't, I'll just convert this to a portfolio website and be done with it.
[editline]8th September 2011[/editline]
Why am I even doing this in the first place. I don't actually like my school, it works like shit and rewards people who do nothing rather than actually working your ass off. I guess I'm just making this page because I can't stand going to a school which has such an ugly homepage.

I think really you need to agree the pricing and costs stuff before you begin working on the project. I think its worth asking but you might be left in a bit of a sticky position if they say no.

If they won't use it, then I'll make something else of this. After all it's my fault for putting myself into this situation, so I have to find a way to get myself out of it with some dignity.
What brain-lacking dimwit designed FTP?
If I delete a directory it should delete the god-damn directory. Not every single effin file inside one by bloody one. I mean obviously the server should do this but it should be down to the SERVER to do that - not the client.

After all when you press delete it's the client which goes into each folder and deletes all files one at a time, the server just executes.
