Making a site in flash isn't really a bad thing if it has justified reasons and you have another method of communicating with none-flashers (sounds kinda wrong I know).
Helping a friend with PDO. Feels good cutting down the usage of mysql_* since it's outdated and prone to injections in one way or another.

Not really, depends what it's for and what you plan to do with it. Different forums will have different requirements.
Take a look at vbulletin.org for some free ones, otherwise there are plenty of premium ones if you can Google it.

Can't believe I had to use a jQuery plugin to make the ghost animate in Firefox. Firefox why don't you get a little bit of common sense and support stuff like background-position-y.
