This any better: I know the blue bit looks shit, just trying to tie the logo for the mod into the original games visual identity. /edit. Damn, some of the kerning is really off :/
I don't like the symbol overlapping the I and T. Also, the "MECHCOMMANDER" part of the text seems to be more orangey than compared to the "OMNI TECH" part of the image (Could just be me though).
My weldr social network project is ready for people to start testing it, there's still more features that I need to work on but the basics are in place. • you can sign up for an account here http://weldr.me/register/ • avatars are set via gravatars • you do need to use a valid email address to register, as you get sent an activation email • the quick post box works, with the body area parsed with markdown • my profile is here, http://weldr.me/profile/jacobh/ I'm 'following' all of the currently registered users. I'd love some comments on it, I know that there's no point, it's a saturated market, etc, but I just want to have something that's mine.
Remember What do? I thought I could make it a website where people post ideas in a stackoverflow style, with experience points, tags, comments votes and such. Do you think it could work?
You should remove the "Self" link on the top bar, when people can just click their own avatar to go to their profile.
I'll think about it, a lot of websites have multiple ways of accomplishing the same task (various links on a page to the same thing but labelled differently), and i don't think space is a scarce resource on the top bar. Although if it seems pointless and it's 100% obvious that clicking your avatar will open your profile then it isn't needed... Thanks for the thoughts!
How the hell can I convert a less file into a css one on Windows? Can't find any info on that..
How the hell can I convert a less file into a css one on Windows? Can't find any info on that..
try this http://www.dopefly.com/less-converter/less-converter.html or this http://leafo.net/lessphp/#demo
That's amazingly lame. But thanks.
http://31.3.227.117/ literally first time using js and jquery trying to make something where i can play a playlist with external controls and seekbar and stuff eventually now to figure out how to use ytplayer.getDuration() and ytplayer.getCurrentTime(); to create a seekbar representation :pwn:
Anyone else watching Windows Build - great opportunities for web devs (watch from 1:45 onwards)
This seems to be a very nice article http://webdesignledger.com/tips/practicing-perfectionism-as-a-web-and-graphic-designer I've only read half of it, so I'm posting it here to remind myself to finish reading it as well as for others to enjoy it as well.

This "be focused, be organized, push yourself, be x, y and z" format seems to be popular amongst authors with nothing to say.
Back on the big monitor! Managed to get MAMP accepting MySQL data on my usb drive too, so I can now dev between pc/mac with no problems. Finishing up installing memcache on the server, and a few bugfixes for PK Russet, will hopefully put it on github tomorrow and get some kind of alpha going (then I can focus on the next game while testing runs!).

Requested a Forrst invite. I hope they accept me.

Ahh yeh - nice RAID: That is a 4 drive RAID 0 - I have 6 1tb Samsung F3 spinpoints
Ahh yeh - nice RAID: That is a 4 drive RAID 0 - I have 6 1tb Samsung F3 spinpoints - The plan was to have a 4 drive RAID 0 and a 2 drive RAID 1 but after seeing those speeds I want a 6 drive RAID 0 - sod the redundancy (that is what backups are for).
Don't use RAID without redundancy, especially with that many drives... By using 6 drives without redundancy you're effectively multiplying the failure rate by 6, since if one drive fails you lose everything. If on average an HDD lasts 4 years (can be an conservative estimate), you would need to recover all of your data every 8 months or so.. That's just not practical.

Fuck RAID...so many errors...constantly having to rebuild....it's awful. I had an 8 drive RAID for about 6 months, then I wiped it all and now I have 8 1TB's I don't know what to do with and 1 super speedy SSD.
Get a fucking SSD ffs
I have an SSD for windows. (120gb OCZ Vertex 2) All files and programs are on the 4 drive RAID. Windows backup backsup all of my documents (stuff that matters) every week to the 2 drive RAID 1. So I don't need redundancy on the RAID 0 because everything (except games and programs) is backed up to the RAID 1 (which is fully redundant). Also I reinstall about every 4 months (I wipe it then reinstall applications and games and restore documents) so it stays fresh.

If I'm lucky tomorrow, I'll have a practice job at a local webdesign firm called "Precisallt Media (Everything Media)". I have no idea what I'm supposed to do yet, only thing I know is that it will be a website and I'll be coding it while another person will do the design for it.
Find whoever designed the current website and kick him in the 'nads for me, for using tables on the layout.
Depends. But I might give them a tips or two to use div/p instead. And a list for the references. But a few of those that work there comes from my school and it was via my school that I got in contact with them. And if this job goes to hell, there might not be a chance for other students to be there.
