If a small change like that requires that much rebuild you're doing something sorta funky. Just build with things like this in mind next time though I guess.

It wouldn't take that much effort, but still wouldn't allow me to complete it in time. I guess Google will have to appreciate the meta tags.
http://taimur.me/tutor/ I still need to do the jquery for the tab things, but I'll do that tomorrow what do you think so far?

Also known as 10.1 inch netbooks. [editline]18th October 2011[/editline] Other than that, it looks really smexy!

Yeah I know, bad quality. [editline]18th October 2011[/editline] I think it fits just exactly when I'm running Chrome in fullscreen, but.. I think people would prefer NOT to have to do that :)
Ah thanks, can you try again and see how it looks now?
Thanks a lot! Now everyone knows the true value of the scrollbar. But I sure do appreciate it! :D
Thanks a lot! Now everyone knows the true value of the scrollbar. But I sure do appreciate it! :D
hahaa I think I'm supposed to be thanking you, not the other way round!
hahaa I think I'm supposed to be thanking you, not the other way round!
Well, I think everyone visiting your site should thank you for not being a dick about it, and letting us netbook people in too! :)
Started out as a tool for personal use, very few fucks were given, but I'd say it's solid. Still a work in progress, but not far off from completion. If it's not clear, it's a visual editor for textmate themes, which Sublime Text 2 supports.
There we go. Edit: Live example. Map is defined in paths.js.
Aaaaaand ta-daaah! It's done! After a week of struggle I've managed to finish the redesign for my school's (awful) homepage. Check it out! (it should be stable and secure, if you manage to break it in any way please send me a PM since this is going to be on an official website and I'd like to avoid any security holes) P.S.: For extra awesome, try clicking on "Contatti" in the footer. [editline]18th October 2011[/editline] By the way, which terms should I give my work to my school under? Any license? Or just state that credit has to be given to me for the page (I'm not selling it to them, I'm giving it for free)? I'm quite inexperienced with this kind of stuff.
Looks nice, now the rest of their site looks shit. Heh. By the way, in your JavaScript you have a few functions inside of the window.load. It's best to keep them outside so they're processed before the window is loaded, even if there's little over head it doesn't really make sense imo.
beautiful img of foreign site I can't understand
Is it just me that's lagging? :downs:
I fear I can't do anything about that, it's an OS related issue. [editline]18th October 2011[/editline] Thanks, corrected.
overall looking pretty snazzy, however I have a couple of issues, #1 To me it feels like the the site is running half as fast as it should do, with the page changing, etc. If possible I would probably increase the speed of those animations. #2 the justified text looks awful in some places, case in point, the third paragraph here: If I were you, I'd go left-align'd text, or reword the copy so it fits better with justified text.
So I've decided to give it a bit of style (as in, make it pleasant as for now. not a ugly widen page). Any background, font, color, etc. suggestion can be appreciated for me as I am going to use that same format for a calculator styled tool that is multi-functional (A virtual currency calculator, calculates your virtual worth with real money).
It's a div with a BG image.
Best practice that I've found so far is to do what you're doing with a background image, but hide the text with a large negative text indent. Either way Google knows you're hiding stuff, but you're not likely to be penalised for it, unless you use the technique to stuff keywords. Just using an image with an alt tag isn't a great alternative, and even Google hide stuff in H1 tags on their SERP. Here's how Google hide stuff:
<h1>&#8203; <a id="logo" href="http://www.google.co.uk/webhp?hl=en" title="Go to Google Home"> Google <img width="167" height="361" src="/images/nav_logo91.png" alt=""> </a> </h1>
The image hides the text, but it's there, and wrapped in an h1 tag.
Looks like this in IE9 but looks great in my browser I actually use (Chrome) minus the first time I loaded it the menu took 3 seconds to respond before each animation but then when I re-opened the page this was then fine. Though I agree that the transition needs to be a bit faster as H4Z3Y said.

guise its not funy
now I'm no detective, but an account with a single post and the same OS / Browser / Country as RusselG posting an image about RusselG just seems a bit too convenient...
