Yeah but the $10 website won't ever match up to the real deal.
Or just bad clients
I read that comic and laughed. That's somewhat happened to me. I know the first design I came up with wasn't the best, But (in my own opinion anyway) it looked a lot slicker and neater than what it looks like now: However, I can't go changing stuff, she's happy with that because apparently the design is "very her".

What looks good in your head, doesn't always output nicely in a browser. People need to learn this.
I worked for this guy, made him a website for his company, a completely working shopping cart with fading animations, adding, cookies working, session id's using ajax, things that took me LOADS of time because HE told me it'd be a nice thing to do. I'd also added a brilliant product gallery where mouse over would retrieve image data from the server, a complete interface for the administration of it all etc. In the end he said "Please just make it downloadable PDF files, and remove the shopping cart". Now it looks like this, basically from a dynamic webpage, to a very static one. But the guy paid me 300£, so I'm not too bothered; [link replaced, due to then not having to show up in google searches, however there's a shorturl]: http://bit.ly/b7tlEI
Get the shopping cart shit, package it up and sell it
Uploaded a version with the shopping cart: http://bit.ly/cvl11q (or just regular url with /old/ added!)
Seriously, if you make it easy to reuse and a simple sample site for it, it would make an excellent product on http://codecanyon.net/

Anything but pink. Scrolling over the picture just decreased the red elements in my screen by a few years.
