so most of it?
I'd say I did 70% of the work. [editline]23rd January 2012[/editline] I need around 4 beta testers, if you want to test could you please PM me with your device details?
Why don't you just release it and people here who feel like it will test it?
Why don't you just release it and people here who feel like it will test it?
So I can interact more easily with the people testing my app.
Why don't you just release it and people here who feel like it will test it?
Or push your commits to github so those competent with android can compile it for themselves?
So I can interact more easily with the people testing my app.
From what I've seen, WAYWO is pretty efficient when it comes to reporting bugs and most importantly finding them. Also by releasing it, you'll get bug reports from almost every API version and device.
I'd say I did 70% of the work.
That's both dumb and insulting to Overv. You didn't design it, you didn't write the parser, and you didn't write any of the listing functionality for the app as far as I can tell.
Have your dirty way you perverse motherfuckers. It uses crittercism so any crashes will be automatically reported, but I do still want you to tell me if you experience a crash. Also, I don't want just crash reports.
Just out of curiosity, you don't plan on selling the app and you plan on releasing the source code, right?
Just out of curiosity, you don't plan on selling the app and you plan on releasing the source code, right?
I plan on doing it like this: -App is $.99 on the Market -Thread offering the apk for free. [editline]23rd January 2012[/editline] And I will release the source code eventually. Once I get a chance to make it prettier.
You do realize that, since Overv did not include a license along with the source code, you are not legally allowed to use his code, not to mention selling it. Unless you ask for his permission, of course.

currently going page by page trying to reach this one in your app, walkdinosaur [editline]a[/editline]
"Jump"
Yeah, I know. Just looking through the thread, seeing if everything works OK.
currently going page by page trying to reach this one in your app, walkdinosaur
"Jump"
Alright! The apparently is pretty smooth except for when it was trying to load the OP. No crashes or anything, but I do have a few complains. First, when you tap "x new posts" it would be nice if it sent you directly to the new posts instead of the start of the page. Second, I really think the previous / next buttons should be at the top and bottom of the thread instead of having to push the menu button. And lastly, I found the thread view UI to be fairly confusing, but the rest was fine. [editline]a[/editline] Excuse the spelling mistakes, I'm still learning how to use my droid. Also just noticed there is no edit feature, probably still in the works I'm assuming. I'm on a unlocked T-Mobile G2x running stock Froyo 2.2.2.

Any suggestions as to how I can make the thread UI better?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki//dev/null
Doh. On windows too! :eng101: MSYS normally intercepts redirects to /dev/null though. So it must have been a side effect of a rogue script that didn't work paths quite right.
So my plan for the FP Android app is to have the app on the market for $.99, and then FP users with at least 1 year or 1000 posts can PM me for an apk.
Or you could make the app free and you need a second license app (like TitaniumBackup) for users that don't have 1 year or 1000 posts? Or even better: Make it paid, but open source so anyone can compile it for themselves but you can also buy it if you don't want to compile it yourself. Beta-testing-notes: * Looks good and runs great on the SGSII * It's missing Read threads with new posts * The bar at the top which is always shown should have a reply button
Doh. Probably one of my own. [editline]23rd January 2012[/editline]
How's MinGW? I'm using cygwin and loving it.
I don't like Cygwin much. I prefer MinGW and MSYS.. My environment is heavily customised though.
I don't like Cygwin much. I prefer MinGW and MSYS.
Why?
A few notes on the Facepunch app: -Long clicking on a post will open a quote view. -Long clicking on a thread will take you to the last page of the thread. -Most functions are in the context menu.

I'll test it on my galaxy tab once it charges up a bit
Why?
MSYS does everything using normal Windows libraries, there's no *NIX emulation/compability layer
Having buttons was just overall terrible, if you were tracking the progress. Any suggestions as to how I can make the thread UI better?
Well, for one thing when you're selecting a thread/section it would be nice if there was some sort of change (background becomes a light shade of red while being held down?) to show what topic you clicked on. Also, I think topics should get a little more vertical space. It kinda feels like they're badly cramped together as they are right now. Excuse the horrible Photoshop mock, but this would work just fine for the thread view: [editline]a[/editline] I cut out the right just to show my idea of the post background going all the way horizontally, so the quote box should "close" more to the left where it's still in the screen, but you get the point.

The avatar would take up the entire vertical space, and there isn't a way to fix that.

You've done good work, but not 70%. Interfacing with FP and the core UI design was Overv's work. And I haven't seen too much added since Overv's version. Still, good job on what you have done.
This has been discussed. The avatar would take up the entire vertical space, and there isn't a way to fix that.
I don't follow. Do you mean if the post goes on for longer, the text can't go under the user's avatar? If so, then I'm pretty sure that can be fixed with some hacky methods, but whatever. What about the rest of the suggestions though? As for more criticism: I guess it would be a good idea to add some icons on the context menu to make items easier to identify, and that'd also help pretty it up a little bit. The text feels a little hard to read, but I can't really put my finger on it. Maybe some more space between the lines? The web WAYWO could probably help you out on this one. Justifying the text would probably make it a little easier to read though.
needs some work on tablets, reply box doesn't scale, and it could use a dedicated reply button on the bottom
