Bingo, you use an intermediate format. You load and save this at runtime, serialising the layout of the UI.
Tell me how this is not a layout system loaded at runtime, which you are so sure you're not going to implement.
On another note, Burning Ninja is right, not sure how he got his info though, I usually keep it pretty low key.
I give your game a 2/3

Or you'd compile the intermediate format to C++ code during compilation.
You don't HAVE to load the UI at runtime.
I never said you did, just that you're going to write the code to load at runtime either way. Be it solely for the editor or not.
Actually Garry's not going to write that code if he hires someone to do it for him.

Yeah and he wouldn't have to write it either if an infinite number of monkeys worked on it an infinite amount of time. What's your point?
This thread is confusing
Doesn't seem like this thread getting anywhere garry. Ask another forum.

That's how it seems to you.
Someone could have emailed Garry with their résumé and a proposal for work, starting the development process that Garry was looking for.
Most of the people in here, including myself, are just filling this thread with useless junk that Garry (most likely) doesn't care about (see databee's post).

Someone from Facepunch? Ok :v:

I don't see why not. There's a lot of good coders here.

If you think you're the only good coder here you have some serious issues.

I think the only one with the issues here is the one that pulls words and ideas out of a smiley.

Not sure how else you're supposed to take it other than "That sentence is funny because it's not true." Maybe if you typed what you meant instead of using :v: and :downs: all the time.

What.
I don't know how you got that he thinks he's the only good coder out of that. Facepunch really doesn't have an army of good coders, there's really only a few of you that are notable.

Well, "a lot" is relative, but by saying "someone from facepunch? :v:" it pretty much screamed to me "No one from FP would be capable of that".

Yeah, that's pretty much right. Most (most != much) of the good coders don't really post 24/7, so, yeah.

Most if not all of the good ones are on IRC anyway. That's why I know they're FP members.
I don't think it's about being a good programmer. The thing is that many programmers here don't have the experience of programming as a job. That makes it hard to actually complete a project even if it's boring, and people don't want to tell Garry after a month that he have to find a new programmer.

Well I include the concept of being able to stick to a task and finish it as one of the skill you need to be a good programmer, since even in your own programs there will surely be certain tasks that are kinda boring but that you need to complete anyway.

Spot on, if you ask me. But maybe some people have been wanting for an opportunity like this, it would still be worth putting it up here.

Yes, of course. I couldn't really come up with a good word for it. But with good programmer I meant a person that can complete the task (If we ignore the part about motivation).
Any programmer worth his salt can take up this job and complete it. Experience will just help you do it faster. I could do it, even though I never worked with .NET or have any idea of how GWEN is structured. It'd just take a few weeks for me to get comfortable with the tools and be productive. I think that Garry is looking for someone with at least some application programming experience, so I'll pass.
-snip- fuck me
There's also the potential that since this community is mostly made up of hobbyists, they'd all rather work on their own more interesting projects.
