Kmart, myself, Matt, and just about everyone else in this thread have been in this industry for a very long time. Social Networking is not a niche. Furthermore, there is not a niche of social networking that hasn't been created...it's almost like a rule 34.
One of our recent clients was a guy with a facebook for dogs that had been rescued from shelters. There were already 3 sites like it from my findings. Not pet social networks..specifically dogs, and specifically dogs that had been rescued.
You're better off making a funny pics site like mine [url]www.trollscience.com[/url] and competing with me for traffic! I'm pulling in 3 figures a week off ads and it could be 4. Took me all of 3 hours to program. A social network is going to take at least 100...500+ if you want it to actually get some use.

True, it's really only about $350 a week and it seems quite steady at this point. (Been the same for the last 3 weeks).
