Is it modular enough to have OpenGL support in the future?

I like to keep things as separate as possible. It’s a lot neater and reusable. For example, the render.dll doesn’t need anything else but bootil.dll. So I could write a program to render stuff using my trusty IRender interface. That’s something that would require copy and pasting code, recompiling etc if you did it the old school way. This also means that if I wanted to re-write the game so it used DirectX10, or OpenGL I’d only really have to re-write render.dll because all the dx9 usage is hidden behind it.
Budgeted all week to complete this, and done 90% of it already. img
Do you have any tips for concentrating enough to get things done so fast? I find I get stuck with something and end up browsing the internet and wasting time.
I dunno, don't do those things I guess. I made a blog post about my process here: http://www.garry.tv/?p=724

Would make for an interesting read! [editline]0[/editline] In other news... I have considered it, but I'm pretty sure I have bank pin codes and phone numbers in them - and would be scared of accidentally missing one..
What. No, a log is ADDING n to the end.
You can create an std::stringstream ss(your_log_message) and then feed it, word by word, into a different string with ss >> temp and then msg += temp + " " and then you'll only have a single space after everything. This also means you'll have a single space at the end, which you can just erase(). (User was permabanned for this post ("Alt of permabanned user / Using proxy" - SteveUK))
On the subject of screenshots, I found a neat tool that takes proper screenshots of Aero windows. http://www.ntwind.com/software/winsnap.html
Vista and Windows 7 have the built in free "Snipping Tool" that you will find under accessories in the start menu that does the same thing. Or you can have the window you want active and press Alt+Prt Scr which will also take a shot of just the aero window, though this way can miss the drop shadow, the tool works though for that.
Nullsquared's RC thread was strangely badass, despite how much of arrogant asshole he is. He's like the poster child for digging your own grave.
Kid can code like a motherfucker but I would never work with him in a million years.
In other news... :ohdear:
How not to post in the Refugee Camp:
WHAT?
How about a thumbnail big guy?

Big images, we get it, we don't care, its 2010
:frown: Think about the people with smaller monitors. Not everyone runs 1920x1200. (guess based on that window's size)
Has anyone else noticed a severe slowdown in posts since Nullsquared was banned? Anyways, I've just been messing with OpenGL a bit. Nothing much to show really though.
We don't have anyone to argue with now.
My point exactly.

That's not nice.
First game I've ever made in C++ with Allegro. I feel proud :D And the fact that I haven't actually learned the entire C++ language makes it a bit harder. At first my dad tried to get me into game programming by buying me a C++ book with over 800 pages. But I gave up because it was too hard (:downs:). But now I'm going to try to be more dedicated. Would be nice to talk to my dad about this but he knows very little C++ :(

If you still have the book, you can use it as a reference, looking up specific concepts when you want to use them. If he didn't actually buy the book; there are shorter books out there that probably do just as well introducing the language to a beginner. You could always just ask on the forums if there was something you didn't understand.

Getting really close to a first release of my IRC client. It won't be flashy, just trying to get a barebones client going before I start adding the "distinguishing" features. I'll probably make a thread when I do. Also, switching to Mantis unless anyone has suggestions.
I'm glad he's banned, i'm sick of him shitposting on my projects, atleast efeX has stopped ( <3 you for that efeX ).

I agree with Blynx6. Ok someone posted something how my game looks like roller coaster tycoon.. And that got me thinking that I should try make a java clone of that game instead of some shitty RTS. So that is what I am trying to do now. Pic: I haven't done a ton but I got it to render everything 90% the way I want it. I also started making my own GUI windows that I can give properties.(ugly I know) And I also added trees again. And random other stuff... Link to test: http://playisoworld.com/world/play.php

Link to test: http://playisoworld.com/world/play.php
Looks nice, noticed one bug right away. I don't remember anyone pointing it out so: If you keep increasing the height of a cell, the 18th increase makes it disappear Also, with the stack tool, when a cell is moused over the verticle column should highlight, maybe a light green, to better show which one in 3D you are on (Stacked wrong column through another, this would help)
:frown: Think about the people with smaller monitors. Not everyone runs 1920x1200. Scroll sideways if you want to see the rest of the picture.

okay let's not start a pointless argument about screen sizes kay?
http://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey/ maybe you should look at the resolution stats. It is 2010 after all.
Opera has a handy scale images to screen width function, I bet there's an add-on for Firefox somewhere.
I just right mouse click and middle mouse click view image.
