If you ever want to put in an online mode, I can help you by providing a TCP master server! :)

I don't know what that is but thanks!
It's a server to which servers report that they are serving, so that the clients can get a list of servers to join.
Basically it means you can have a server browser instead of having people connect by IP.

Freezes at the menu after about a second. Music still plays. I can close the window if I alt-tab out and back in.
I'm on Windows 7.

After inspecting the files, I found system.Game is the class that probably contains the applet thingy, right? Running with that gives me this error:

Well, that implies that it crashes because it's using the wrong version of Java. Are you updated to the newest version available?
EDIT: Here's the output it gives to the command line after a crash on the menu:

I think it's just an error with the native binaries for Slick2D.

I wish someone had told me this shit before I chose it over C#.
I also have the 'crashing after 1 second' bug. Windows 7 64 bit, Java install is latest 64bit as well.

Okay I'm reuploading it, but if you want to do it yourself, just replace the .classpath file in the .jar with this one: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3188768/.classpath
