Ok, just real quick, im pretty bad at svn related stuff- so is there any way someone could give me some sort of explanation of the GoogleCode thing?
What's wrong with the current Google Code SVN?
You can use a local git repo for development and then push to an SVN repo whenever you like. That's what I do.
What's wrong with the current Google Code SVN?
Nothing, but I'm not going to use the SVN yet. As far, I'm only going to set up the git system, and it's solely for testing purposes on both platforms. I'm building the entire thing on my Gentoo system, until I can get it right on the Windows Platform. I know it works here, I just can't get it up right, so I might just release the source when I'm done and let people figure it out.
Any specific time our games must be done?
Any specific time our games must be done?
Nope. Just upload to the SVN whenever you finish.
Ok, sorry about asking- but im pretty bad at SVN (I do have a svn client downloaded though) Anyway- how do i upload my files to that google codes thing?

PM Joshyy your Gmail address.
Also, remember that the fact that I'm working on an FP Arcade Browser application, shouldn't stop the you guys wanting to do the same. My chances of succeeding, or even getting 50% are near-zero. I'm a beginner at C++, and this is strictly to get me back on track.

Let's all make one and decide the best one based on votes. Of course stalemates will be a problem easily solved with a quick game of Tic-tac-toe! Or maybe Rock, paper, scissors... :v:
(...I'm kidding)
Hey, Just a quick note to anyone who wants to make an application to browse, Make it so in some sort of desciprtion of the game in it, like:
Game: Whatever
Difficulty: Hard, easy, moderate
creator: Whomever
description:
blah blah blah i like turtle.
So, that might be good when developing the application, but you dont have to do that- just an idea.
You can put me down for Asteroids.

Not too sure on the difficulty thing. I mean, how does that work for Pong and such? If there is a difficulty rating, it probably should be numbered (out of 5 or 10, for instance) for easy comparison. The rest of it's good, except maybe it should show which version of the game it is too?

And done.
Also, a thumbnail for every game would be nice.
Something with a set size like 256x256.

The application could also have a md5 hash checking for the binaries on storage, and on the binaries in cloud (for updating purposes).
put me down for 'Alien Syndrome'. It's on the arcade games list.

Will do.
How's everyone doing by the way? That was the first post in about 6 days, I think.
Level editor for mine is close to done. But there is still a TON of stuff to do.
I may have a first playable alpha with a few levels done in a week or two, depends on how much I'll want to work on it.
I'm doing nothing, no one needs any graphics?
I'm doing nothing, no one needs any graphics?
'fraid not. 2D sprites are probably far more in demand, tbh. I don't think anyone's attempting a 3D game as of yet.

I can do any kind of graphics, just tell me what ya' need.
How about a DoodleJump (or whatever they're named) or an Excitebike ripoff. If I could get somebody to create some sprites I could give it a go. The main reason why ProtoSnake doesn't have sprites is because I can't even draw a circle in Paint :v:.

Hm. Should I edit the OP to say that you do 2D sprites and stuff too?
I don't need any myself, Pong graphics I can handle, I think.

Pro-tip: hold control. Wait. Was it shift? One or the other. This tip isn't so pro.
Uh.

Edit the OP to say something like "If you need any kind of graphics just fucking PM this dude"

PM me and we can discuss graphics for your game.
I have a alpha of my game done, pretty simple all i need to do is add more level and work on the graphics.

Just let me know what you need.
I would prefer it if all games would use the same libraries and building tool or framework.
It would make it easier to compile and most likely easier to port as the diversity of the used libraries and especially compilers is reduced. This solution works as well, but updates of the binaries cannot be made as fast.
All the games are seperate programs, released as a pack. As such, everyone can use whatever languages and frameworks/libraries they want
All the games are seperate programs, released as a pack. As such, everyone can use whatever languages and frameworks/libraries they want
That's the problem: Apparently people want it to be cross-platform, but how're you going to make it cross-platform when it uses a zettaton of different libraries or frameworks, languages and build automation tools, all which may all have their own platform restrictions? For instance, the ProtoSnake game which got recently uploaded uses a Visual Studio project file, which cannot be used under Linux without converting it or using tools that aren't broadly available.
For it to be as ideally cross-platform as possible, every game would need to be written with highly cross platform libraries and need to be run/compiled with interpreters/compilers that are available on those platforms and behave the same on each of those platforms. The build automation tools used must be available on those platforms, too. The source code must of course also be runnable on those platforms.
If the main target of the project is to create and pack arcade games together, everything of them licensed under an open-source license, allowing any libraries and programming language to be used, then it's okay. But if the project is supposed to be cross-platform, the aforementioned diversity could become problematic.
I don't think that's really logical. You won't be able to convince anyone to use a library they are not comfortable with on something that they make for free. Let a lone a whole different language.

Well, of course multiple programming languages and libraries can be used. It's just about the cross-platform-ness.
