I use Notepad++, but Sublime looks delicious.
Just started using Sublime and it is really really very very good. Two thumbs up and my own personal seel of approval. He is trained to like things like this you know.
[img_thumb]http://anyhub.net/file/hut.png[/img_thumb]
Notepad++ is free
Notepad++ is free
Walking is free, a car costs money. Kind of a flawed analogy because in this case, I'd rather walk (use a text editor) than drive (use Dreamweaver), but I'd probably invest in a comfy pair of shoes first (Sublime Text). And in this analogy, if I did drive, I'd probably crash. That rephrased analogy may be kind of flawed as well, because Notepad++ is still a decent program, and it's still a damn sight better than using Window's notepad. I can't really pass judgement over how good it is, because I haven't really gone back to any text editor since Sublime. But I've plugged Sublime enough for now.
Sublime is the same as Notepad++ just with a different skin really. Most of the features are the same (plus here for Sublime, I guess), but in general, they are the same.

PhpED and HeidiSQL
I fucking love HeidiSQL. It's one of those programs I really miss.
Oh how I used to love you PhpED, then I found Sublime, and Sequel Pro.
Brett, how can you rate me disagree if you said yourself you haven't used it for a long time?
Well to be perfectly honest, I misinterpreted your post, I thought you said something along the lines of 'Sublime is essentially a different skin of Notepad++' or something, I think a better way to have worded it would have been 'Notepad++ has comparable features to Sublime Text, even though they look fairly different". That, or I could learn to read entire posts.
I started with Windows Notepad. Now Notepad++. Now, I think I'll try out Sublime Text.
I started with Notepad. I usually use Dreamweaver now though. My shit web development classes we have to use Editplus. It's ugly and annoying to use.
Yeah, that's why I added to second sentence, to clarify the first one :P From your little guide about Sublime I can see pretty cool features I haven't seen in Notepad++. By the way, with a single plugin you can make Notepad++ looks like this:
It's not really the sidebar in Sublime Text X that makes Sublime Text good, it is the ability to do this... [img_thumb]http://intrepidesign.com/misc/sublime-fourway.png[/img_thumb] That, and the hardware-rendered text that scrolls buttery-smooth (although Sublime Text X is back to software rendering). (Yes, btw, this is officially a pissing contest now :v:)
1.) Coda when developing a website. 2.) Textmate when I don't need all of Coda's functionality. 3.) Cyberduck if I just need to download, upload, or edit a file quickly. 4.) Phpmyadmin. [editline]3rd November 2010[/editline] But in all honesty I'd be fine with using nothing but finder and textmate.
Most of the time Notepad++ or Gedit, but some times just end up using Notepad.
i started with notepad, used notepad ++ a little, but for some reason i prefer not having syntax highlighting in html (but i need it in all other languages :saddowns: ) so i went back to notepad

Notepad++ Dreamweaver is fine, it's just built for people that don't know how to write html properly, or for those that suck at it.

Haha it looks like you just move those bottom two down there, dats cheatin :3
Haha it looks like you just move those bottom two down there, dats cheatin :3
Actually I did, but they're floating and they stay on top so it's practically the same.
Fair play, I can roll with that.
I started with Notepad. I usually use Dreamweaver now though. My shit web development classes we have to use Editplus. It wouldn't even be that bad if we could use the code window instead of the design. :frown:
I've used Sublime for a little while now, and really like it.. before that I used Notepad++ for a couple of years, and that's about all I use for editing.

I liked Sublime but it doesn't come close to the plugins for notepad++ [editline]3rd November 2010[/editline] Oh and there is a minimap plugin for it but I can't be bothered to find it right now.
What theme is that?
Made of Code, it's a textmate theme, but its easy to install it for use with Sublime Text, as explained briefly here.
I liked Sublime but it doesn't come close to the plugins for notepad++
Fair enough. What sort of plugins, though? The native autocomplete, snippets, zen coding, syntax highlighting and UI are pretty much everything I need to work. Granted, that's what everyone using Notepadd++ is saying.
Easiest? Dreamweaver. Best? Learn to write HTML. http://echoecho.com/html.htm
