I actually have a server sitting a few feet away from me right now. The problem is that it has no Internet card or anything, so I can't do a net install of Debian or Gentoo like I want to do. Even worse is that the bios only accepts PS/2 keyboards. That means Debian is out of the question as well unless I find a PS/2 keyboard. Gentoo boots up drivers at start for usb keyboards amongst other things, but again. No Internet. However, if you know of a good tutorial on sockets, it'd be great if you could share it.

yeah, sorry. I meant a network card. It used to be plugged directly into the router, but now it's in a different room so that isn't an option.
It has a network card like the one you linked, the problem is that I need a wireless card which it doesn't have.

I used to have an 80-foot Ethernet cable running from a router in the basement, through a ventilation pipe in the basement ceiling to its opening outside the house, along the side of the house (tucked under the siding to the corner), up the corner of the house to the second floor, and over and in my bedroom window to the computer on my desk.
Spools of cat5e cable aren't too expensive; I bought a 1000-foot one for $45 (USD) a few years ago.
That's pretty crazy. Sounds like a lot of work just to plug it in.
I think I'd rather just get something wireless tbh.
