The only reasons you've told me so far as to why PHPBB is so bad are all personal opinions, like the method of installing plugins or the ACP interaction. I want concrete, technical proof and explanations as to why it's worse compared to other alternatives. Large things, not small insignificant ones. Until then I'm sticking to PHPBB because it does exactly what I want it to and it excels at doing so. That and moving forum software is a pain in the ass. :v:
Noone told you to change from phpBB, this discussion has just turned into "phpBB is bad". Doesn't mean you have to change forum software.
yes it is
I'm gonna need facts, because as far as I can tell from the very many public MyBB instances running, it's not.
I've seen many exploits from mybb, but they're all from plugins. So, I don't think it's very easy to exploit unless they used some shitty quality plugin.
MyBB's security track record isn't exactly stellar: http://secunia.com/advisories/product/4479/?task=advisories
MyBB's security track record isn't exactly stellar: http://secunia.com/advisories/product/4479/?task=advisories
It's really not, but as far as I know there are no dangerous exploits currently live.
It's really not, but as far as I know there are no dangerous exploits currently live.
Maybe not currently live, but everyone uses plugins from http://mods.mybb.com/mods, they're not being tested for vulnerabilities, there's no way to "report" any plugins, and as said before, there are a lot of plugin vulnerabilities. MyBB might not be insecure because of it's core code in the latest release (although it has been really insecure in the past), but it definately is because of not testing plugins.
I'm pretty sure the other big players in forum software don't either.

What does this even have to do with Garry's Mod...
he's just saying how the plugins are the reason it makes mybb's security system shit.
he's just saying how the plugins are the reason it makes mybb's security system shit.
So MyBB is to blame for "MyBB's security being bad" while it is fine without modifications? That's retarded. Plugins for vBulletin can just be as bad written as MyBB ones.
TinyCM for SliTaz is cool :D In all seriousness though, you should really just pick whatever suits you best. Try a few out. Hell, try them ALL out, and then pick and choose. [editline]31st August 2014[/editline] It is cool though
The Security for MyBB, PHPBB, and SMF are equally safe as the vBulletin, IP.Board and Xenforo security. There's also PunBB, haven't tried it that much though. What a lot of people seem to forget is that software security is one thing, have secure passwords for MySQL and your administrator account.
