That's why the teachers are shit - all the smart people are out making money.
This is true.

I have 3 web design teachers at college that know what they are talking about. Lucky me.

This is true, our games engine teacher left us for a job. Now we have some other guy who knows nothing about modelling etc...
It sucks but I don't blame him at all.
Doh, tell my lecturers that! I suppose since its part of my assignments I'll have to make do.
What kind of course are you on? I'm not on a exactly complicated course, but even my Web Design lecturer teaches us the HTML coding itself. Hell, if he had it his way we'd all be using Notepad++ instead of plain old notepad just for the auto-indentation and collapsing brackets.
Then you end up with a shit site.
Why?
learn html and php, then come back to ask for help.
I use Dreamweaver, but never do shit in the visual part of it. I use the visual part of it just to give me an idea of how its shaping up as I go.
Is that so wrong?
Though occasionally I'll do some stuff in NP++.
It depends; largely on what version of Dreamweaver you're using, because it seems the design view has become more accurate in recent versions.
I'd still suggest frequently checking it in browsers though, no good doing a lot of work in Dreamweaver only to find it looks different in browsers. That really threw me off when I began.

My school uses Dreamweaver cs5. When I used split view I cried. I only use dreamweaver for the auto code thing. since my school has dual 19" It helps.
