Boo-leen
Do you pronounce lean leen or lee-ann?
I fucking win
I say care but the only time I even talk verbally about programming is when I'm teaching a class or something. I'm absolutely horrible when putting my thoughts into words.
car, booleen, intejer, ess kew ell, cash

What else has multiple pronounciations?
Cuh-are
i hate it that my teacher pronounces it 'char' like 'charcoal' when it's short for 'character' so it should be pronounced like that, or just not actually pronounced at all how about we say 'character'

char and Character are two different things in some languages--Java for example. char is a primitive, Character is an Object.
uh how do brits say "lean" j/w
I have never heard anyone say lean as "li-an" it is not two syllables and therefore there should be no confusion as how to say boolean...
boo-leen is how boolean should be pronounced w/ an American accent.
Please leave and come back when you change your avatar. That's the only way you're going to ever be taken seriously. Anyone with under 1000 posts who keeps the default Bieber avatar is a joke.

Same. I find there's always a small degree of difficulty vocalising my thoughts usually, but when I try and talk programming I just trip over my words completely. I think it's because it's hard to say the positioning of the special characters - braces, parentheses, and operators - and especially because they're all separate words.
"int main open parentheses int argc comma char asterisk argv open square bracket close square bracket close parentheses" is just a mindfuck, in anyone's language.

I usually expect people would understand what I'm talking about so I abbreviate that to "int main argc argv"
Oh, and I also would say "char double-asterisk argv" instead of what you did; It's effectively the same and just incredibly much easier to comprehend.

That was a simplistic example, but your point is justified. A better example would probably have been anything using templates, particularly the std containers, or a lot of boost stuff. And I only use *argv[] through force of habit, most of the time I don't even need command line arguments

Me neither, I just type it in since it's gonna get optimized out in any case. (How do I know this? Goddamn gdb won't let me see the value since it's been optimized away with -O2!)
(Which... Sorta makes sense)
Car if I must, but I never use that. It's not that hard to say/write character, so I see no need to use it.
kyaa~~

Awww, I'm later than my girlfriend.
I don't say abbreviations, I say the word they are abbreviating.
Tjar
I only ever discuss programming over chat so I don't have to pronounce it:smug:
I really, REALLY hate when someone pronounces it "booleen". IF IT WERE FUCKING BOOLEEN IT WOULD BE SPELLED BOOLEEN!
Or it might have something to do with the guy that came up with it? Just a guess.
Also, @people who say it, "Care", I bet no one knows wtf you are referencing when you state that you initialized *it* as a "care" ;)
Care.

the real question is, boo-lean or boo-lian
Why not the nullsquared way: boo-yen?
I switch between methods, but I generally do "charred"-style. Of course, sometimes I pronounce it "shar", just for the lulz.
signed byte:saddowns:
You mean unsigned byte. :eng101:

uh I meant a class in which they teach Java
what did I stutter
if you mean the snipped remark you can decide if I was serious or not
You know, where you said Java wasn't a programming language. Before you snipped it.
