Not what I'm looking for, but I'd consider it if you could tell me how I would go about embedding it in a C application.
http://www.mono-project.com/docs/advanced/embedding/ It's fairly straight forward, and as it's a C and not a C++ application interop is a lot easier too. I've done some basic integration with Source before https://github.com/benpye/source-mono-2013/tree/master/mp/src/monoscript . I run a binary there however you can execute functions from a library, with some minor issues such as some reflection stuff failing. I'd recommend just running a binary though, even if that is only a loader for the rest of your managed code.
Does anybody else get the urge to put nails into your skull after working on the exact same problem for two hours straight?
http://www.mono-project.com/docs/advanced/embedding/ The explanation is from the perspective of C
Does anybody else get the urge to put nails into your skull after working on the exact same problem for two hours straight?
Yeah I got that last night when I found a bug in Mond's sequences. Hopefully I never have to touch that code again. I turned that tokenizer I made in Mond into a syntax highlighter that generates HTML: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/675786/output.htm
Can you point in a direction to just build something extremely simple in C# where you click and it creates an image where you point?
Monogame or SFML.NET, or Unity maybe? The thing in the video is written in OpenTK and OpenGL, which is maybe a bit extreme for what you want to accomplish. http://www.sfml-dev.org/download/sfml.net/ The thing with SFML.NET is that the tutorials are written for SFML/C++, they aren't very hard to adapt but maybe a bit confusing at times. You can download SFML.NET through "Nuget", just search for SFML. Maybe check out: http://ericmbernier.tumblr.com/post/74890485795/otter2d-top-down-adventure-tutorial-part-1-an-intro http://www.monogame.net/ I would have just recommended using XNA, but micrsoft took down the site with all the tutorials and that stuff a while ago. Afaik Monogame is (largely?) XNA compatible, but they somewhat lack in documentation. http://unity3d.com/ Is more of a complete game-engine, rather then a framework.
Recommending C# to a C programmer might not be that fruitful though.
I don't know, I can appreciate both C and C#.
I don't know, I can appreciate both C and C#.
Sure, I can appreciate C as a C# programmer but I would never make myself write C for anything bigger than 100 lines of code. Most C(++) programmers I've met (and by most, I mean 95%) would never write C#

You will probably have a preference towards a single language, but most of them have their place in the IT world. So knowing just one only limits your toolbox.
Does anybody else get the urge to put nails into your skull after working on the exact same problem for two hours straight?
I used to, but now I very rarely run in to a problem that takes me that long. When I do eventually find a difficult problem I find it very enjoyable. I'm sure there's a point at which my patience would break but I haven't hit that in so long.

I see. It actually looks like a really awesome game character that way though :D

People act like there is big difference between C++ and C#. You know what is big difference? Imperative vs Functional.
We chilling mofucka?
Sure, although I have no idea who to look for and meeting may be entirely accidental :) I'm definitely going to be at the Roosterteeth panel on Friday. I'm also hoping to be at the Game Grumps panel on Saturday (not sure, I think my friend will need to leave to pick up his new PC as his old one fried itself while running a GMod server, and he's my only ride...) There's also some indie game developer panels scattered around, so I may attend those.
I would never make myself write C for anything bigger than 100 lines of code.
As someone who aspires to be a C/C++ programmers; why is that? I find C to be pretty simply in its syntax compared to higher level languages. Not that I don't like C# (it can do things that I wish I could do in C), but C is just so... elegant.
People act like there is big difference between C++ and C#. You know what is big difference? Imperative vs Functional.
NEVERMIND IM DUMB
People act like there is big difference between C++ and C#. You know what is big difference? Imperative vs Functional.
I don't think that word means what you think it means.
He wasn't implying that C# was functional though? I think his point was only that there is a much larger difference between imperative and functional languages than there is between C++ and C#.
I suppose I misunderstood then. Although if that's the case... There's still a huge difference between C# and C++. If you don't think there is, chances are you haven't used one or both of them.

One of the biggest differences between C++ and C# is memory management. You nearly never have to worry about it in C#, but it's vital for C++ (and C too, but that's besides the point atm) Then again, i have a total of 3 months working experience in C++ :P So other people will probably know a lot better

And doesn't (the new C++11 or whatever is it) support stuff like auto (var in C#) and also lambdas?
