[QUOTE=Chad Mobile;22270766]Why would I want to make an EXACT remake of his game? That would be pointless. It's like having one company make a model car and then another remake it exactly. What's the point? They'd be the same thing. :iiaca:[/QUOTE]
So you can sell the exact remake for cheaper and put the other manufacturer out of business actually.
But Joshyy is cool, I don't want to ruin him :v:
[editline]02:48AM[/editline]
Besides, it's probably copyrighted.
[QUOTE=Dlaor;22263418]Why did you enclose that all with [noparse]?
Ninja edit :ninja:[/QUOTE]
Uhh sorry lol... Even in [code] tags it was parsing some BBCode, so I tried to put noparses in there but didn't think hard enough and noparsed everything.
Can't seem to find the page on boost::signal's members.
[QUOTE=high;22272034]Can't seem to find the page on boost::signal's members.[/QUOTE]
Only page I could find remotely close was this one:
[url]http://www.boost.org/doc/libs/1_43_0/doc/html/signals.html[/url]
Doesn't really give you a list of all members / member functions. :saddowns:

I got basic AI working in my remake of Joshyy's Arcadium. I think that my player tracking is a bit too good. :biggrin:
[img]http://i46.tinypic.com/107ufzo.png[/img]
Still working on that RPG thing of mine, nearly done really, I fixed up a lot of things, added more shops like a coffee shop and corner store for food and drinks and all that good stuff, also added in the ability to piss yourself if your bladder gets too full, thanks to some homies in another thread.
I'm planning on getting it finished by wednesday.
Very nice sir.
Are you sure that that 'coffee shop' isn't another one of your bong stores? v:v:v
Finally found it

[QUOTE=andersonmat;22269614]Yes, pretty much. I thought, "Oh what the fuck, let's make a game like that, only let's incorporate networking and online scoring before he does."
:colbert:[/QUOTE]
I'd appreciate if you didn't. Since this is for my project that I get graded on, if they see something similar, extremely, they'll assume it's stolen.
[QUOTE=animorten;22274361][URL="http://www.codeblocks.org"]Yay, a new version of Code::Blocks is out![/URL][/QUOTE]
Is there somewhere which actually shows what has changed? Dunno if I could be bothered getting it.
Building from svn anyway. Will see how it goes.
Finally Finished writing my LuaMud
SVN Link : [url]http://vbitz-pack.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/luamud/[/url]
Once you run it was a standalone lua interpreter you will find yourself at a ">" prompt, at there type "look" the rest should explain itself, if you want to get to the more complex "wizard_" commands then you will need to type "id_wizard" followed by the password "password", after that you can type "wizard_help" and that will give you a complete list of commands, most of them explain themselves but may silently fail.
[QUOTE=OrYgin;22265641]Oops, my bad. Thanks .

How is this even possible?
[QUOTE=Poodle;22277137]How is this even possible?[/QUOTE]
[quote]A simple server that allows a client to connect to your computer and talk with your steam friends[/quote]
I'm guessing OpenSteamworks.
[QUOTE=Poodle;22277137]How is this even possible?[/QUOTE]
Steam -> OSW(Or w/e) -> Server application -> Client application

Ehn, that's not a possibility and you know it, just say what you are really thinking.
Andersonmat, no offense, really, but don't you think it's a bit of a dick move to take someone else's project? It's not like a mandelbrot renderer or grapher, it's a game he designed. I understand you are already a ways in, but it can't be difficult to try and diverge from his design, at least visually.

Yeah, not worries Joshyy, I'll diverge a bit. :P I was just planning on having some fun with particle rendering since I liked your game so much. :v:
Arcadium, eh?

I'm still working on this. Got some new enemies in and the UI / Menu / Upgrade system is coming along nicely.

Off-topic but how did you get a link to a specific post in a thread?
[QUOTE=Vampired;22281053]Off-topic but how did you get a link to a specific post in a thread?[/QUOTE]
Click the URL next to the link chain on the right of the post
That one goes to a page with just the post in it though.
-snip whoops-
I'm pretty sure you can get a direct link if you go to a profile and find posts by a user.
[editline]11:43AM[/editline]
In example:
[url]http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?p=22258742#post22258742[/url]
Okay I [url=http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?p=22281129#post22281129]got it[/url]. You have to click the thread title on the post's page.
You can use the single post URL and replace showpost with showthread like that:
[url]http://www.facepunch.com/showpost.php?p=22281156&postcount=1601[/url]
becomes
[url]http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?p=22281156[/url]
[QUOTE=Vampired;22281053]Off-topic but how did you get a link to a specific post in a thread?[/QUOTE]
Click the chain icon, then when the single post page loads click where it says Thread:<Title> in the top corner.

Wow, after playing Arcadium I have to say our games are strikingly similar. Doesn't bother me if it doesn't bother you! :D
Besides, mine's only in Flash so far ;)
[IMG]http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/8561/lolscreen.png[/IMG]
I don't think any one has the right to claim the style, or the idea.
It's like telling people not to make pong.
Well his is in C++ / C#, mine is in Java, and yours is in Flash. :woop:
[QUOTE=animorten;22274361][URL="http://www.codeblocks.org"]Yay, a new version of Code::Blocks is out![/URL][/QUOTE]
They do release nightly builds on their forums, which is probably why it took them 2 years to finally pack one up and do an official release.
(Well, looks like they're not exactly 'nightly' but they do put one out every so often.)
