• What are you working on? v15

I'm working on my first android app. I started to get demoralized a couple days ago, as I don't actually own an android phone, and I couldn't tell if the extreme slowness of my app was because of the emulator or not. I didn't think it was, but because I had no reference, and the slowness was rather mystifying, I was beginning to think I'd have to get an actual phone. Anyway, after some testing, I narrowed down the slowness to where I was reading in lines from an htpp response; the logcat was displaying hundreds and hundreds of free's when this happened. I decided to change it to reading in a large number of bytes at a time; ran it and worked pretty much instantaneously. Huge relief. Felt like a genius at the time, but now I'm thinking I shouldn't have written such inefficient code in the first place, although I don't have much experience with code that runs unacceptably slow.
I really dont see why you cant search teha android market through their website, oh well where theres a will theres a way [img_thumb]http://img201.imageshack.us/img201/1328/98493159.png[/img_thumb]
You can use sites like AppBrain.
[editline]29th January 2011[/editline] what happened to null anyway?
what happened to null anyway?
He made a thread in the RC and got perma'd. I'd love to know how his company is doing now.
He made a thread in the RC and got perma'd. I'd love to know how his company is doing now.
It wasn't quite as black and white as that. He was working for garry on botch for a little while and started acting even more arrogant, because he was essentially imune from being banned. He started being a cock in the GMF too so they all jumped on the hate bandwagon against him. It all went tits up though when he apparently demanded to be paid in advance for the month after having only done 4 days work, and garry binned him off. There was a thread about him very shortly after these events in GMF where everyone was taking the piss, so he posted the "You will always remember the name" thing and then rage-quit by posting in the RC. [editline]0[/editline] Oh and before all this, when he was regularly banned for trolling, he used to either post project updates in the RC thinking that Golds would be interested and care, or get people to post in WAYWO for him.
What is botch? I've seen a couple of screenshots and heard of it a few times.
Hey, I'm installing GNOME right now on my VM and I'm going to port my CAS front-end to Linux.
He was certainly correct in saying you will always remember the name, but the fact that he said it tells you what was wrong with him. After all, I'm fairly sure everyone will remember the name "Hitler". It's not necessarily something to be proud of!

Seriously? That's silly. He seemed to think everyone would remember him because of what a great programmer he was.
Hey, Can we get back to posting content? This banned nullsquared guy is taking over the thread and he's not even here.
Hey, What's wrong with rating myself optimistic? I'm just an optimistic guy.
The Optimistic rating, commonly known as the Gaybow, is usually used to mean the person in question seems gay somehow. That, and self-rating is considered rude unless it's an ironic box or something. [editline]29th January 2011[/editline] Also enough with the Hey now, guys :v:

Hey, Is game development in C++ hard? Thanks, Awwent

Hey,
Hey, Is game development in C++ hard? Thanks, Awwent
Not necessarily; of course, it fully depends on your experience level.
Hey, Is game development in C++ hard? Thanks, Awwent
Hey, Depends if you've had any programming experience before. [editline]29th January 2011[/editline] damnit ninja'd by the person I was mocking :frown:
