Here we go, my project is just about complete! I've got a little bit of code-neatening up to do, but I'd love some help testing it I call it the Internet/Radio Controlled Car - IRCC: http://thecubeserver.com/tests/arduino/rc/ It is essentially a radio control car that you can control over the internet. Try it out! I'm going to post the source code later today or tomorrow, if anyone is interested. To find out how it all works, click the link on that page! Try not to crash it, and please don't run over my cat :v: Remember short quick keyboard taps at first If you find a problem, please let me know Thanks for the help with relays a few pages back. This is what they were used for. And thanks for helping to test! Hope you enjoy it [editline]12th June 2012[/editline] Who just drove it into my door? :v: [editline]12th June 2012[/editline] My cat seems to like it
Driving under your bed is amusing.
That's quite cool. Your cat didn't seem terribly impressed with my driving! It's a shame about the delay on the responsiveness of the controls though :(
Haha I had to put him outside for a little while :v: Yeah the video lag is where it comes from, most likely. Where are you located? [editline]12th June 2012[/editline]
Sorry for hitting your wall plugs. It's fun to play around with, i did notice that sometimes i got stuck when going forward or turning. I'm not completely sure as it might be the lagg that i should be blaming.
No problem Yeah it has a terrible radio transmitter, I'm afraid. There are a few black spots where it interferes with my wireless mouse I think
What is that black thing to the right? Is it a closet?
That is a fire place Someone tried to drive up it a minute ago
Ow, that was me. Sorry for hitting the wall (twice).
Apparantly Ustream doesn't like a lot of viewers, the delay is quite bad now.
Wait 5 minutes for a turn. 30 Seconds remaining! 29 28 ...Off Air... ._.
Sorry...I might try hosting the stream myself
No Problems, Just only had 45 seconds of continuously ramming it into the fire place :P - By accident.
I got it stuck in the wall outlet :P Also I think the batteries are running low, was quite slow for me.
Yeah it's very possible, I hacked together a power solution for it using a 3xAA battery holder to get the required voltage. It usually has 4xAA (rechargeable) but I lost the charger [editline]12th June 2012[/editline] Alright we managed to burn through £4 of batteries in just over an hour :v: I'm going to invest in some rechargeable batteries, it'll be back tomorrow I had fun watching you guys crashing :v: Thanks for helping to test it
I hope this is back up soon, I want to trash your house like everyone else
All you need now is to attach some miniature weapons to it so we can really have some fun. :v:
I hope this is back up soon, I want to trash your house like everyone else
I checked for marks on the walls, there didn't seem to be any marks thankfully :v: I'm going to get some rechargeable batteries tomorrow morning, the shops are shut now The annoying thing is, the batteries seem to be able to kick out enough power to drive all the motors correctly, but the receiver/transmitter set-up is so shoddy. I may consider replacing the circuitry with my own, or maybe bumping up some voltages on the car (but those are long term goals) Right now I've just found an unused aerial and extended the simple wire antenna along it. It seems to run a bit more reliably now. The trouble is there are many black spots in my room where the signal simply cuts out. Unsurprising, really, considering I have a router, wireless mouse, phone, wireless landline phone, wireless printer, and all kinds of other sources of interference. I can remove some of those, but even then these black spots still appear Anyway, I'll leave it up tomorrow. I'll also see if I can get some kind of chat box alongside the video stream [editline]12th June 2012[/editline]
All you need now is to attach some miniature weapons to it so we can really have some fun. :v:
I feel sorry for my cat enough already :v: But I was planning to get a second arduino module on there, so I could relay battery information and of course add lasers, BB guns and nuclear missile launchers
First person view camera, you know you want to.
Already fixing it up :v: I can stream from my phone now, I just need to figure out how to mount it. Any ideas?

I expect my 4 watt fm transmitter within 3 days to be operational. There are a lot of experiments to conduct with this particular entity. First I have to design a lot of filtering. WISH ME LUCK.
So about ten years ago my dad got me part of a weather station his work was throwing out. I could never figure out how to make a mount for it because all my tools were ass. Of course, moving out means normally you have to go buy yourself a new set of tools if you always stole your parents set so after I dug the kit out again I decided to waste an hour at The Home Depot and build the mount so I could attach it to the post I setup two weeks ago for the clothesline. Now I need to interface it. What should I try? Grab a PIC and whip something up that displays to a two-line LCD panel or invest in one of the pre-built shitty home weather stations and hope I can adapt it to work with my instruments?
Tape.
Yeah problem is there are no vertical places to mount it. The wind shield is at 45 degrees so it would point the phone to the ceiling I don't really fancy strapping it to the front, either, because it's not the safest of places
MIPS, you could add a humidity sensor to that awesome station. You could usually dig them out of some microwaves. (Perhaps a datalogging feature via RS-232)
Of course you do it yourself, what a question You should get a neat graphical LCD or even full color LCD and a nice enclosure or something.
I got piles of monochrome two line LCD's but no datasheets for any of them.
Bonus points if you make it wireless and solar powered
I got piles of monochrome two line LCD's but no datasheets for any of them.
Can you tell if the chip is a Hitachi controller chip? Or is it one of those COB chips?
I bought some super duper rechargeable Duracell batteries and a new 4xAA battery holder. The car is now really reliable (no more dead spots) and moves much more quickly! I put it up for about 30 minutes today and someone managed to break the steering pinion :v: Easy fix, though. I'll super glue it tomorrow morning and then it should be up for much longer tomorrow. I estimate the new batteries should last over an hour of constant use, maybe more
Can you tell if the chip is a Hitachi controller chip? TM-DMC1602 (it has a Hitachi HD44780A00) -??? COB-A-16202-A (it's made by Hyundai) They're mainly parts I found over time. I never really checked if any of them worked.

I love industry standards
