The past week or so, I've been working on a website that relates to TF2. It's similar to TF2WH in that there's a queue and a system of bots, but different in that it relates solely to scrap banking.
[thumb]http://puu.sh/QUxQ[/thumb]
It's called TF2Scrap. The basic premise is that it's automated scrap/reverse scrap banking. Scrap banking is when someone will offer to exchange one scrap per any two craftable weapons. Reverse scrap banking is when a banker will allow you to exchange one scrap for any one weapon.
The bots use SteamKit2 to do the trading/autocrafting (after I harassed Voided a shitton), and can generally craft an entire inventory in mere seconds.
The reason I set this up is because I noticed that it was difficult to find a scrapbanker, and because scrapbankers ripped you off of reverse scrapbanking. So I set this website up, posted a thread in the TF2 section, and then let SPUF freak the fuck out.
We offer a "fairer" reverse scrapbanking scheme, in that we give you two weapons per scrap, but you have to pay a one-time fee of 4 scrap to access the reverse scrapbanking (normal banking is free). This means that you break even vs a normal banker after you buy 8 weapons from us.
We started it this week and so far we've hade ~2,500 users, and around 350 scrap. We started with 1 bot and 200 scrap, and now have 4 bots and 1,400 scrap. We've essentially multiplied our initial scrap investment by 7.
We've also made around $200 in donations.
We're basically putting every scrapbanker out of business. It's pretty cool.

Holy shit this is awesome.
Who is freaking out, and why?
Cause I don't have any posts on steam forums.

Geel, I'm still going to cut off your balls if you don't give me the latest source code.
EDIT: I'm kidding man, I love you. But seriously. Source code. Now.
After countless delays and procrastination the open.gl chapter on depth and stencil testing is now available.
Additionally, I couldn't just let Geel9 get away with his app, so I've decided to officially start a war.

These two screenshots are from the current preview build of the app. The action bar is fully backwards-compatible with pre-ICS platforms. The app makes use of a proprietary HTTPS-only API, but uses the regular Facepunch to log in. That means that the MD5 hash of the password never reaches my server, only the Facepunch session. Along with this login request, all calls from the API server itself to Facepunch are also done with HTTPS thanks to Garry.
Feedback on the layout and/or functionality is more than welcome.
I think it's beautiful for Android, but for iOS I'd like something that adheres to its UX guidelines.

Super early platform engine. I intend to make it so sharp angles can't be walked around, so the stairs in this demo will function more like stairs. That way if you wrap around the outside, you will descend the stairs MC Escher style.
In the office this weekend trying to rejig my Lime build. My old way of GPU doing detection (attempt to load the LKM, sleep a little then grep the dmesg log) sucks, looking into better ways of doing this.

Looks nice, but it's a shame you've decided to build your own API to do this. One of the reasons I launched a publicly documented API was to prevent a bunch of them springing up.
If you've got suggestions on how the API might be improved, I'd like to hear them.

What's wrong with api.facepunch.com?

A few suggestions, have Huey in the middle of the screen on the opening, to keep more of the focus on him.
Also, make the blocks block that asshole mole's shots.

Maybe the big notice that says "This a lab. Don't rely on anything here staying the same, or even being here tomorrow."
(Also I'm p. sure it was removed some time ago)

I think the issue was that the API could just go down for a week with out any notice. (Eg. when the IP Address of FP changes)

I really like the idea, so I figured I'd give it a try... I've been in the queue (position 4) for absolutely ages now, how long can I expect to wait for a bot to become available for scrap banking? And indeed, what are the bots waiting for? When a request is made, do they add the person on steam and then just wait for the person to accept their request and so on? I mean, that's a pretty flawed idea so I'd assume you're not doing it but I'm not sure what else would mean it takes this long.

Thank you! Geel9's app has been crashy and shit for months :P
Hey Overv, I got a Nexus 7 the other day, will this FP app be optimised for tablet usage? :3
So, long story short, after Phyzicle totally let me down, I've been working on this cool new idea for a touch-screen game. Unfortunately, I might not be able to finish it due to time constraints.
Either way, I'm curious to see what you guys think of it. Perhaps if there's any interest, I'll make some time for it.

I've actually been thinking for a while about doing iOS development because there's more money in it (not the Facepunch app of course). I'll get back to you.

I have security requirements that are not compatible with your current API, because I do not want to store the password in the application.

Why can't they process the trades in the order people accept the requests?

Currently, while we're working on bot stability issues, we're hosting the bots on my computer (we're going to host them on our dedi once we know they can be up for a long time).
Unfortunately, even if our bots are incredibly stable, little brothers can still click the big red X.
As for your questions, the bots will friend people, but they have a timeout of 40 seconds. If they don't respond in that time, they move to the next person.
Couldn't you host one of the bots on your dedicated if it's already up? You'd have backup when your local bots go down.
Couldn't you host one of the bots on your dedicated if it's already up? You'd have backup when your local bots go down.
I suppose we could. Right now we're trying to figure out a better solution so that we can host many, many bots on a single process.
Also just traded items for scrap, seems to work and your bot is friendly :v:
Nothing special. Just got bored and made a lottery sim to see how often you'd actually win it if you entered 2 times a week.

Actually, my video may have been a bit misleading - the goal isn't to get the water into a container (like in Feed Me Oil), it's to get the crate into a container, using portals (wormholes). Water just happens to be involved in some of the puzzles. Plans for other puzzles involved resizing portals...for example, a seesaw could be holding the crate, and you will have a smaller crate on the side. The only way to get the target crate into the container is to use resizing portals with the smaller crate so it flings the target crate off the seesaw.

Do you take into account the price of the tickets to see how much profit you make?
Do you take into account the price of the tickets to see how much profit you make?
Yep. £1 per ticket, and when you win it'll add to your money count.
