I could offer a hand where possible, HTML/CSS. I don't want to help with PHP as I will probably be doing things wrong.

:awesome: suggested the name Cosmo, or Cos.mo, what do you think?[n
I believe it is now cos.mo
I thought the name was cosmonaut, we're just using cos.mo for the domain?
[img_thumb]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2951174/webdesign/flow/wf.png[/img_thumb] Hoh.
It's... beautiful.
I thought the name was cosmonaut, we're just using cos.mo for the domain?
That works too.
Well, fuck.
Well I was going to put coding, but can you really call HTML and CSS 'coding' languages? Just didn't remove the frontend bit.
As long as it confuses the fuck out of anyone who doesn't know it, it's coding. Seriously though, it's still coding. People just don't like it when you call it programming.
Don't even know why I posted this, I don't think I like it.
It's not coding because it's not code: It's markup.
Which is done through a set code, thereby making it coding.
We roughly discussed the idea of going with a spaceish theme - 'hubs' as galaxies/systems/planets in a global 'cosmos'. I think we could take some pointers from 1950-1970's sci-fi for the direction to take with the design - maybe with some cartoonish overtones? The logo you posted, TerabyteS, just seems too corporate and unimaginative, in my humble opinion. [editline]17th March 2011[/editline] Remember the basic rules of logo design - if it doesn't work in black and white, it's no good.

Initially that was the idea with my logo, to incorporate some sort of 'cosmos' look, ended up diverting off though :saddowns:

Scarily similar. I messed around with like 18 layers for ages too as well, don't think it had much effect. Edit: Oh god you even have the background!
Didn't really go anywhere. [editline]17th March 2011[/editline] wow, that sucks
Keep thinking of names, we may not do cos.mo
We've decided to use FuelPHP. VPS has been setup on Rackspace with Nginx+PHP. (thanks Tdoyle!) Here's the first step: http://50.56.97.138/ We're thinking of breaking off into a dev group and a design/idea group. The dev group will start getting an admin panel in as well as some basic libraries/classes we know that we will need to use. Meanwhile, the design team will keep on planning and drawing up ideas. Once the dev team has the core backend set we'll converge together and pick out the best features/ideas and start the real fun. oh wow, rackspace is shit expensive [editline]17th March 2011[/editline]
It's not coding because it's not code: It's markup.
Since HTML and CSS is Turing-complete, it can be considered proper programming. You can do anything in pure HTML and CSS that could be done with C, or Brainfuck, or PHP, or any other Turing-complete language.
wow, I really read the pastebin. I think http://a1.twimg.com/profile_background_images/140801264/twitter.jpg is good.
oh wow, rackspace is shit expensive
$11/month for a 256mb VPS in the cloud? Not really what I'd call expensive. FuelPHP Install: http://50.56.97.138/dev/

when I goto http://50.56.97.138/ the text isn't centered. [editline]17th March 2011[/editline] is it suppose to be like that?
You can go to http://cos.tdoyle.me/, which is just a sym link to the ip.
You can go to http://cos.tdoyle.me/, which is just a sym link to the ip.
lol.......what?
lol.......what?
You go there, which is the same as going to http://50.56.97.138/
I said there is a symlink from the git repo that goes to the /sec directory, and i guess he got mixed up [editline]17th March 2011[/editline]
You go there, which is the same as going to http://50.56.97.138/
FYI, that's using an A record on my domain's DNS. A symlink is a symbolic directory link inside of the Linux operating system.
