Since HTML and CSS is Turing-complete, it can be considered proper programming. You can do anything in pure HTML and CSS that could be done with C, or Brainfuck, or PHP, or any other Turing-complete language.
What the fuck, HTML and CSS aren't turing complete. You don't even know what you're talking about.
HTML/CSS contain 0 logic....unless you count the IE comment if statements.

Oh hell no.
We need some more designers, so far we've done a lot of server administration and talked a bit about the PHP setup but we have nothing as far as design ideas.

While I was sitting in my science lecture, I thought about some cool ideas that are sort of like some of the inspirational things you posted in the OP. I'll be fiddling around in photoshop for a while and if I get anything worth showing I'll put it here

I know exactly what I'm talking about. It's possible to implement Rule 110 (cellular automation) in HTML and CSS. Rule 110 is Turing-complete, so therefore HTML and CSS is Turing complete.

b/cuz i'm not
Worked a bit on the design today, not sure about where to go as far as the content area, but I'll figure that out tonight.

Not trying to stir shit or anything, just found that statement to be hypocritical is all. Sure that thread is fixed now, but only because StinkyJoe and I pointed out the difference between design and development, either one of us could easily have said 'What the fuck, HTML and CSS isn't design. You don't even know what you're talking about'.
On-topic, Tom asked me about helping out with the design on this project, I'd be happy to; I've got a study break from uni, not like I was using it anyway (or, at least, for study :smug: )
Though that doesn't change the fact I'm still rather snowed in with work both inside and outside university, so whilst I'd be happy to be a part of this, I'm not exactly sure of the exact capacity in which I'll be involved. I'll be lurking irc (damn timezone differences) at the very least, and I'm definitely keen should I be more involved, should I be able to cope with all this mounting work.
If this is going to be space themed, there needs to be a captain's log.
For those of you who are interested but haven't reported in yet. Make sure you check out the irc channel

Just have to wait for those crazy Icelandics to approve everything :v:
Back from my trip, still battling it out with the icelandics. More coming this weekend!
What about that design posted in the pimpage thread, that was kickass!
So is there going to be a separate forum/IRC group for this? One thread on here will only end up in a huge mess...
It looks like hosting sorted, but if required I can put up a VM or more if required.

Lies. I'm so lonely on IRC nowadays :saddowns:
[editline]oh wait[/editline]
Not anymore.
Hah, yeah. I'm getting into the flow of things, busy week ahead.
I had an idea which I thought was pretty neat, and I haven't seen it done before. Basically, forums would be more like tags, and threads could have multiple tags and be shown in those tags. To illustrate, let's say you want to setup a home server (or w/e). There are many different questions one could ask on the subject, but I'd say it be split between software and hardware. On a conventional forum, you'd have to pick between hardware OR software, or create a duplicate thread. If my idea was added, you could have it displayed in both, and people from both sides could contribute!

Already been done, stop stealing ideas off the tracker.

I don't know what you're talking about? What tracker? And I haven't seen this done before. :saddowns:
