Debuggers are memory editors.
Also the Windows debugging interface outright tells the process in question it's being debugged.

I wasn't cheating, it was when the web browser component (On the motd) crashed due to JavaScript errors and my debugger attached itself to CSS without asking.

Small bug report: on the website, I usually have to log in twice in a row.
