No chance of that happening when i actually use them For the second point, do you mean that it should be light, then suddenly dark ~halfway across? (like this?
Planets are all on top of each other to save space, lighting isnt yet in the direction that the sun is. [img_thumb]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9317774/Solar.PNG[/img_thumb] Generates unique solar systems of a maximum of 9 planets in the form "Solid" planets (Arid, lava etc), then gas giants, then cold, ice planets Unfortunately theres no bias towards being "normal" so its fairly easy to end up with a solar system consisting of 9 arid planets, though it doesnt happen often enough to bother me particularly
May I ask how your doing these? They look awfully sexy
May I ask how your doing these? They look awfully sexy
Its a perlin noise map, with a circle cut out. (ie keep everything less than radius and make everything else blank) Then, using "bands" (like a value of 250+ or something is red) i colour in the planet according to the values of the noisemap, with variation on the colour according to the value of the noisemap The lighting is simply increase the colour of the pixel by an amount, by however far the light is away from the planet, with linear falloff (doesnt make a huge difference). There are many, many magic numbers in the lighting :v: After, depending on what looks the best and if i want it to have an atmosphere, i either add in a white line and a predefined atmosphere and fade to black, or fade the outside of the atmosphere to black Gas giants are just solid colour, the variation is all just the noisemap. And the sun is just a weird light on a hidden gas giant :v:
Yep, like that
Heh, this essentially means "Stick in some different magic numbers until things come out right" Edit: How about this? If linear falloff is 1, and quadratic falloff is 2, then this is 0.7 falloff :v:
If linear falloff is 1, and quadratic falloff is 2, then this is 0.7 falloff
What if nuclear fallout?
If linear falloff is 1, and quadratic falloff is 2, then this is 0.7 falloff :v:
Then what is 0?
Then what is 0?
No falloff whatsoever?
Remember this thread? Pretty off topic but I was cleaning up my work folder when I found a program called "Link Saver" Which basically saves links you find interesting. Man I was such a lame programmer :saddowns:

No hostility meant; I'm just wondering.
This looks to be pretty promising. Also, is this a Christian song? No hostility meant; I'm just wondering.
Not that I know of. It's Flobots... A sort of Hip-Hop with punk rock lyrics. They don't rap about smacking their bitches up in the hood, more about real world issues and stuff. You should check them out.

This is, to me, implying that God is there for you and whatnot. Secondly, "one love" is likely referring to God's love. Thirdly, they yell "Agape", which is an old Greek term which was used solely to refer to God's love. Whereas Eros is the human desire for things, Agape is a love that is greater than Eros, embracing and perfecting it. It is only used to denote a Christian love. Again, no hostility meant, I'm just curious.
Hmm, the more you know. I don't know to be honest. It may be about religion... I just like the song.
Also, they yell "Agape" right after saying "one love" which pretty strongly backs this up. Also, they say "Lord hear my prayer", although that's...not entirely significant. Sorry, I like analyzing shit

Derp moment, in a derp moment.
Yeah... Just, bored and needed to improve my programming skills.

I can't actually tell what you're supposed to be doing
Collecting the rings to gain a larger multiplier to earn more points...
What causes the multiplier to decrease? Time? You seemed to be dodging some of the rings but collecting others. I couldn't work out what exactly you were trying to avoid
If you don't collect a ring in 2.5 seconds then your multiplier is dropped. I'm not very good at this game, so I apologise for my lame skills.

They're not spheres.
how's the pizza, geel9?
delicious
It looks like you just cut a circle out of a flat image. They're not spheres.
Amazingly enough, i did cut circles out of flat images. :v: Its for a 2d game, top down perspective so this is alright. I like that they look 2d, im not going for pseudo 3d planets in a 2d game Edit: I could use 3d perlin noise, and use a 3rd coordinate to make it look more spherical. But then id have to spend a much longer timemessing around with that, and plus if i used my current method of generation it would take absolutely ages (time of generation). So a full change of the generation for something that is almost an art choice isnt entirely worth it
