Guess I didn't make it similar enough to a game already on the service But it's not really finished...also, does he even look at little casual-type games like this?
Yea thhats what he mainly reviews in his "WTF is" series. I think if you put a demo up and promote it abit so you get enough downloads you could prove to valve that people really are interested in it and get them to admit it
Guess I didn't make it similar enough to a game already on the service But it's not really finished...also, does he even look at little casual-type games like this?
You might also want to contact indie developers who are already on Steam. The Dejobaan guys have always answered my email questions, and since they now appear to be bffs4lyfe with valve, you might be able to find out *why* it was rejected. Man, this kind of upsets me. Even Apple will tell you why your app was rejected from any of their stores. Valve dropped the ball with this one. :/
I really didn't expect that... That's a blast!
Protest!
But it's not really finished...
Maybe this is why it was rejected?
Maybe this is why it was rejected?
If it's not finished then that's definitely why. They want a demo of a full version, not a pre-release beta-ish. :X

When your app gets booted of the Android market they only tell you something useless like that it's against the policy.
Maybe this is why it was rejected?
They ask for a demo with complete gameplay. The version I sent has complete gameplay, although it needs more set levels. The other 3 gametypes are done. At least I actually have fairly varied content in it.
Apple's actually better than many stores there. When your app gets booted of the Android market they only tell you something useless like that it's against the policy.
It would have been nice to get anything out of them to be honest, at least then I'd have something to aim for. I delayed my submission for so long to polish it just for this :/
If it makes you feel better, I would of bought your game.
I will buy it
I bet I get banned for this, but I feel it's appropriate... NovembrDobby;
would of
*Twitch* On the subject of your game, I too, would buy it. I already said to contact indie devs, but maybe you can get it into the next humble indie bundle? Post it on TIGSource? Market like a boss? :v:
Reply back and ask why, and ask if you would be able to resubmit it at a later date.
After about a month hiatus learning the Lua C API, I finally have some progress! [editline]19th April 2011[/editline] Now defaults to the bottom screen. It can be placed on the top screen through Lua. November, just pull a Happy Gilmore and if Steam says "Better luck next year", be the first to stab them with your keyboard. Edit:
Time to break out the ol profiler. For some reason my server code is taking 80ms to process 100 clients sending a ping packet all at once. Also need to speed test my serialize class although that is not the issue here. Need to switch it to use interfaces too. I find myself using events over interfaces all the time :s which causes an inheriting nightmare. So stupid that the professional version of visual studio doesn't come with a profiler. I hate microsoft for making so many 'versions' of their products. O well, at least for some reason after I installed ultimate over professional the trial hasn't expired :s.

I never saw this when they were showing off auto properties when they first came out. public int Field { get; private set; } Had no idea you could change the accessor modifier on get/set till just awhile ago. For the longest time I was creating a private field and a public property. :(
Do many IDEs come with profilers?
You chose print mode. Buy milk. [8/18/91] Buy milk from Nichol's. Status: Active Priority: High Buy gas. [7/17/71] It's too damn expensive. Status: Inactive Priority: Normal Attack Madagascar. SHUT DOWN EVERYTHING Status: Inactive Priority: Low
Print mode is finished! Up next, I'll be working with ncurses!
Much better, had a bug in my code so it wasn't serializing anything. Turns out it is 5 times slower than using a Binaryreader/writer. Profiled it and it is because of invoke :\. Microsoft I am disappoint. When I tested calling vs invoking it turned out that invoke was about 4 times slower. So my serialize class is mainly slower due to invoke :(. Tempted to use interaces instead of delegates. Wish C# had anonymous classes like Java. Fucking bullshit, so I ran it a few times and the averages were consistent. First: 117.1ms (My serialize class) 24.8ms (binaryreader/writer) Removed 1 invoke: 98.4ms (My serialize class) 24.4ms (binaryreader/writer)
well, that's that. At least I only had to wait a couple of weeks: :eng99:
Sucks, just try selling it on your website :(
Sucks, just try selling it on your website :(
Could also try Desura, I guess
Never heard of Desura
Never heard of Desura
It went live only very recently, so that's not particularly surprising.
Fuck yeah! I got it to work! Took me about 10 days, 4 of which spent debugging deadlocks.. bloody lock-hugging DirectShow IAllocators. The video in the screenshot above gets captured by my filter (the one outlined in blue), which then wraps it up in PS packets then wraps those in TS packets, then sends those to an RTMP transcoding relay server, which then serves them to flash, just like my client had requested.. I hope he'll be happy now. Oh well, so long I'm getting paid... :smug: Turns out that H.264 is a real bitch though (emulation prevention coupled with NAL parsing is a fucking mess).. then, coupled with DirectShow it gets messier by an order of magnitude. Had some major trouble with frame timing too, since there's no "standard" method (short of decoding the video) to obtain accurate timing information from the stream, especially since timing information on the IMediaSample interface is strictly optional, and could mean nothing in the presence of P/B-frames. At that point you have two options, either to parse the stream in search for a SPS/SEI NAL and parse that (doesn't always work), or develop your own hacks to do it.. and that I did. All in all, I think it was a very educational experience, considering that I had no past experience with DirectShow, video formats, nor MFC/ATL classes and nearly none with COM interfaces. Not too good with sockets either. Now to tidy up and optimise, after I get some well deserved sleep.
Thats a sexy windows theme.
