Deployed the completely rewritten version of http://www.spoonfedstyle.com today! It's still running through and scraping products off of the website products come from for the time being, so some of the categories are empty, but that will fix itself over the next couple hours as the scraping process completes. Things are pretty bare-bones right now, and there's a lot of little things I need to do over the next few weeks to really feel happy with where it's at, but getting this out there feels great! (All the pages, for example, have the exact same <title> tag right now) I also decided to just ditch all the old data so the recommendations are going to be really not awesome right now because more people need to use the site before it learns what to recommend to who, and if you had an account before, it's gone now. I felt that I didn't have enough data that wasn't easily reproduced to warrant the time it would take to write scripts to migrate everything.
-spoonfed style-
Before I took time to read your post, I (unsuccessfully) tried to request myself a password reset link. The "Forgot password" page needs some styling aid :) [editline]0[/editline] I miss the feature where clicking "Like" or "Dislike" redirected me to another product. You should bring it back, at least for disliking.
I just finished the login system. Once you are logged in this is how is looking. I know I copied facepunch website because I used the icons but I don't have a better idea.

I made it so that you have to click next to get to the next page because even when I was getting people rating lots of products, almost no one was buying things, and I think it might have partially been because you get taken off the page as soon as you like something. It takes a little more clicking, but I think doing it this way makes it a lot more obvious what's actually happening to less technically savvy users. I'll totally do some A/B testing once I get my testing framework up and running though :)

Another discovery - I'm pretty sure I told the site I'm a male though I'm getting female clothing in recommendations.
Thanks for the fix. Another discovery - I'm pretty sure I told the site I'm a male though I'm getting female clothing in recommendations.
You probably need to hit choose categories and deselect all the female categories. Right now the recommendations link doesn't default to doing that for you based on your gender. That's on the list though :) If you DO have all of those unchecked and are still seeing female stuff, let me know!
Hahaha you pervs! I love that out of all the categories in the women's section I only have recommendations available in the lingerie section because one of you is going through and rating a bunch of those.

Wonder if I can snatch about.you, then sell it c:
would totally open an online gigolo service with .plumbing [editline]31st December 2013[/editline] Also I read that technically you can bid to have any gTLD open, you just need a consortium of businesses and the likes and a ton of cash to present the bid to ICANN
I just want a .on domain that doesn't cost an arm and a leg so I can register just my name as a domain
I've finally get my head out of my ass and began my full revamp of my website. I've started with the Links subsection. I went from full PHP to an AJAX based model; this permits less and faster loading times. Also a new grid layout for easier navigation — but you can still get the old layout, it's just a click away. Link to website here. [t]http://i.imgur.com/gtiqeTO.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/kyTPWvq.png[/t] I'm on my way to remake my files and my blog section on the same design to give my website a sense of unity, and also working on a small video platform for my use. Oh, and happy new year

It's used by so many gallery plugins and pages that it comes as a natural UI mechanism.

So, I was bored (who cares) so I made this... things... for a server called Bob's war drp. The first one is an automatic paypal donation history. So, you log in through steam and then when you're logged, the button appear... So when you press the paypal button, it sends your steamid and then once the donation is complete, I use the IPN to store the informations into a db. So... yea, well, I made this because of my last time with my "steam shop" that where I got literally raped and people asking why i didn't used paypal. So this is actually a learning thing... (Have no f*king clue how to say it in english) [thumb]http://img15.hostingpics.net/pics/692695donation.png[/thumb] And the table actually echo your steamid that is converted to your steam name. So the second one is a big wtf thing i made for this same server. Alright so there was no point of doing that unlike just experiencing live query automatic update (do I say it right?) So, when you press the "Pray" button, your number of prays is increased then you can see the progress bar the total number of prayers (I think i miss spelled there...) updating by it self. So if you're on the page and see the value of prayers changing, that means someone else clicked on the "Pray" button. So the thing is that i wanted to experiment query without having to refresh the page. See, [thumb]http://img15.hostingpics.net/pics/657785prays.png[/thumb] P.S. : How's the design ? :)
how's this going so far? (using roboto because dumb brand guidelines set by the university) [thumb]http://andrescanelones.me/imageuploads/gdaC1.jpeg[/thumb]
Roboto isn't that bad IMO. And looks great, really sexy for the eyes! [editline]2nd January 2014[/editline] Is there any live preview?
No, just a mockup. If it was up to me, I'd use a friendlier font like Avenir or the likes. Roboto isn't bad, no, but it is the system font for Android, which makes it then not such a great font to use for ALL YOUR FREAKING COMMUNICATIONS. The people handling branding at FSU's main campus are really cheap.

Where comes your inspiration from ?
Where comes your inspiration from ?
at least for me, I take inspiration on other designs. It works really great if you're skilled enough to take an idea and transform it into a new one. For the rest, it's a very subconscious process: I see things, I absorb ideas, colors, etc and that's where inspiration comes from without really knowing from where it exactly came. More progress on the mockup [thumb]http://andrescanelones.me/imageuploads/MnFmG.jpeg[/thumb] when you hover on the colorful icons below the slider this should happen [thumb]http://andrescanelones.me/imageuploads/zDy5i.jpeg[/thumb]
Almost done with the profile page. What do you think I should change or add.
If that's just your portfolio website, it seems a bit over-engineered. I don't quite see the point of a user system for the website; maybe I'm misunderstanding its purpose?
Basically I just started learning HTML/CSS/PHP/MySQL and I thought while learning I should make a nice website. I don't think it will be my portfolio but I what better way to learn making a website than making an actual website. I also need something to show, if on my actual portfolio. And yes you are right is too over-engineered for a portfolio. [editline]4th January 2014[/editline] Also could something give a link how to add custom fonts because I can't find anything.

Comic Sans, awful CSS, design elements taken from Facepunch , to name a few things (although your use of Comic Sans pretty much counts for 20 things). To answer your CSS question: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=css+fonts Last I checked MySQL isn't a language, it's an extremely simple database.
