A few years ago, I had a flash games website for the kids at my school (because the school blocked the usual ones), and I had a modified guestbook script to allow people to post Free Rider 2 levels. Someone drew a picture of a dick, posted it with the title of "<person's name> and me last night".
The cops came over to my house and accused me of cyberbullying :v:

Trying my hand at canvas to make some sort of AC clone, but mostly making a a character move with collision detection. I didn't try to search for optimization tricks before, but this time I did, and the use of multiple canvas to avoid redrawing everything in order to improve performance really helped.

the design is nice, and even nicer on mobiles, but I can't help but notice two things:
First and foremost, and I think this is very important, your site is about finding clothes but I don't see a single piece of clothing in the homepage. Yes, people are supposed to pick what they like but if you were to sprinkle some nice model shots with nice clothing somewhere (perhaps the big blue banner?) it could add more life to the design and express the message of the site more clearly. Images are extremely important in conveying a message.
Second, are these bullet points (I mean, the "steps", not just the dots) supposed to be this big?

This arrangement works great on mobiles but it seems to me they're excessively huge for desktop/tablet viewing and adds a lot of unnecessary scrolling to get to where you care that your visitors get to, the "get started" button. I would condense these three by putting them inline for desktop-like resolutions.
Keep working on it by all means, I see a lot of potential in this project!
Browsing through this thread that's a mix of dev and design pimpage always helps me get motivated. I've never really come across another site that has something similar, but I was wondering where else you guys like to frequent.

I've come to dislike dribbble because what you'll find very often there always feels like reiterations over reiterations of the same style of design. It's become a massive web 3.0 design circlejerk. You'll find good stuff there easily too but using it as your main inspiration source is definitely not healthy.
To ease me back into development I have started a [I]very[/I] basic website that doubles as the place I will be storing my writing. It's supposed to kind of look like a book. I'll be doing different themes for different writing purposes, this one being the beginning of my fantasy universe I am creating. My navigation is off centre and it's bugging me so much. But I cannot work out this github you guys all use.

It's technically feasible, though if you're hoping to get any meaningful traffic you want a server, since Dropbox blocks files with too much traffic.

No this is purely a test bed for development progress and storing my writing, next to no traffic I assume.
I had touched on this in a vague and stupid way in the quick questions thread but if you guys could hear me out:
My father is running a local (island-wide) music promotion/semi-label company thing and is strapped for cash but really wants to be able to market these bands he is involved with and has asked me if I could set up a database that could store e-mails. This is so fans of the bands can go on the websites, enter their e-mails and receive news about gigs etc. I have no experience in this and told him I probably couldn't but I want to surprise him with some sort of solution so he can handle this without me, in time for his birthday. Needless to say I'd still code the actual e-mails.
