For first year Uni web dev class I need to make a style guide for an example website. We were given the Github one as an example, and I saw they had nice syntax highlighting on their stuff, so I wanted to replicate that. It's pretty case specific, but for what I need to highlight it covers everything. I also think the lecturer expected us to highlight code by hand.

This is my first time using Regex, and I guess my first proper go at Javascript. Pretty happy with it.

Been trying to remake the iGoogle page I used to have until they closed in November. Google search was easy. Next up is the "unread Gmail emails" list. Fucked around with the PHP IMAP functions, managed to get the unread emails easily but not the URL to Gmail to link to to show that conversation. Dig around some, [url=https://developers.google.com/gmail/imap_extensions#access_to_the_gmail_thread_id_x-gm-thrid]turns out that Gmail extends IMAP with an X-GM-THRID attribute for the thread ID[/url]. Sadly, no way to get that with the standard PHP IMAP functions. I messed around for 2 more hours with Horde's IMAP_Client, which is 10 times more complicated than PHP's, before realizing that [url=http://mail.google.com/mail/feed/atom/]Gmail provides an atom feed for unread emails[/url] -.-

Problem is, android browser crashes (native), not Chrome.
But I found the problem.. my phones display is 320x480, but I resized canvas to something like 960x1200.. aka 3x bigger resolution => 9x more rendering time... and of the poor phone couldn't handle this shit and it crashed...

It's really up to you, there are no rules for that. I personally use px as I find it easier to use. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong.)
Also, I don't think you can do that with the native browser.

Is a 1% ctr legit? Do 1% of people really click on google ads?
idk but most forum posts on it are somewhere in the ballpark for 0.75-1%
it depends a lot on what the website is and what the ads are for, e.g. if you have a niche product information site with ads for those specific things you could probably hit >10%

asked me mum who has experience with adsense, she says ~1% is average
Depends on your audience really. TF2Dingalings has 0.14% CTR (peaked at 0.73%). I'd imagine due to more gamers having adblockers or generally just not clicking ads.
That said, there's 1 ad unit on the bottom of the page and it's not very prominent. But it's enough.

The background and text are temporary, and the sidebar/social links disappear when the window is small enough. The header will only take up a third of the screen (the font size is dynamic).
