People don't have credit cards very often here though (especially lower and mid class people)

Don't they have debit cards?
Uhm, not sure if this is a sully question, but can you pay with a paypal account if the site is using stripe? If not that's a huge disadvantage :/

Why?
With paypal, you only have a 45 day protection
With your bank, which has either/or Visa/Mastercard etc. you have a lot longer to revoke a payment.
All my PayPal is, is my mastercard, and any money I get given on paypal goes back into my savings account
but people still use PayPal... and you want to grab money from everyone, right?
but people still use PayPal... and you want to grab money from everyone, right?
People use it, but you don't have to
If you want to make any transaction from your bank account online, you need mastercard/visa etc.
It's not a disadvantage if it's offering a similar option
Braintree is nice too. Supports both cards and PayPal!

How does Atom compare to Sublime Text? I've been using Sublime and I like it but it's starting to give me notifications about paying and I don't have the money due to no job.

That will happen once every 50 file saves. Not the end of the world in my opinion.

I dunno if I was using it wrong :v:
but its slower than sublime text even with bunch of plugins installed compared to clean installation of atom.

Don't worry about notifications, you will get used to it. (I just bought the license few days ago)
It never expires anyways.
Yes performance is slower since it's basically just a 'chrome tab', that also has some benefits though
All down to preference I guess

I've tried Atom for a while, but in my opinion, Sublime is much better. Not only is Atom is significantly slower than Sublime, I've also had the syntax highlighting simply break, consistently and on multiple occasions, for example:

Wow ok, I'm sold on Sublime for the forseeable future.
Thanks for the responses guys.
Working on a web 'app' for my year 12 assignment, trying to give it a flat look whilst still looking responsive ect.

Any tips ect other than spelling, I know there are a few typos but it's all placeholder text atm.
I'd say move the >'s up to the corner or something so they aren't only partly between the image in the background, it looks weird, and maybe mess with the margins on the title and subtitle, they kinda feel off
The heading's could have a bit indention on the left, they look like they're hugging the edge

I take it its probably a bad idea to interface directly with a (independent) SQL database via PHP GET, but server-client communication over the internet isn't something I've done since Gmod10 (not even Gmod13) in lua.
The idea is the arduino can be plugged into anywhere, handshake with the server, then start receiving commands.
The arduino in this case isn't exactly running a complex program:
Await command
Turn on LED
Take sensor data
Turn off LED
Send sensor data
So the secondary web page will just be the unix timestamp of when the "scan" button is pressed. If the timestamp differs from the last time the arduino read the page then take a new scan.
Its probably [del]rather[/del] really inefficient, but I haven't worked with web content since high school.
Could someone point me in the right direction to learn about dynamic sizing and stuff like that?
I feel like I miss something since the Tablets and Smartphones took over.
EDIT: Whoops, wrong thread sorry.

I'd give it a lot more padding, lining the header and content and removing the gray/white border on the left. Try playing around with different fonts, and you might want to move that arrow somewhere else as mentioned.

I would say it's the most amazing thing ever created, but I can't stream large videos? It's just a black screen when I put a movie up. I uploaded a much smaller video file and it worked fine :/
It appears the video file I tried was corrupt.

AUTO MERRRRGE!
Working on an outdoor Navagtion from campus to campus Navigation for my University, still need to figure out how to get Latitude and Longitude from the GPS chip with Javascript. So far it preloads every tile, since one of the requirements I got was for it to work even without internet connection after leaving the Wifi covered area.
And make it more modular so Other people can add stuff to the nav-graph.

It basically takes get values and parses them. If a value is wrong it will display an error html. So for who ever is going to use this at my university will hate me.
I've been getting back into HTML and CSS. This is what I have so far.

I don't really have a plan for the site yet, just mostly experimenting.

You bought a domain for the sole reason of making a site with a fat cat on it?

That won't be it's true purpose but for now yes. All the images apart from the logo are place holders.
I think it's perfect as it is
I once owned http://kittencustard.co.uk, I literally just had pictures of my cats on there.
I've been out of a job since September, nobody hiring newbies it seems. Been doing oddjobs and just doing whatever I can to get by, but it's getting old. I want to get back into web development but I'm a bit rusty so I started doing the Ruby on Rails Tutorial a week and a bit ago.
Any of you guys done this one? Nobody told me how fucking serious this tutorial is, jesus. Right out of the gate you're buried head first into TDD and Git (two things I hadn't really seen yet) alongside Rails and it's like that the whole way. Overall my experience has been a pretty good one though: Rails is great, especially coming from JSP, ASP.NET, and PHP.
Currently finishing up chapter 10 (of 11) today, hoping to be done before Monday. Then the job hunt begins again ugh... but lots of small local companies are looking for Rails and that's a market I couldn't tap before. Maybe it will be different this time.
Any of you guys use Rails? Like/dislike? Also can I just come out and say Cucumber is shit? I hope no one makes me use that fucking turd.
Love rails. That book is awesome for being so in depth with TDD and all that. I used it to learn Rails as well a few years back and never looked back :)

there's a few bugs where video files fail to load in, sometimes retrying a few times works. i'll probably keep working on this more
