Currently working on a small web-based project written in PHP that will synchronize Source based Game Server files with a Web-Server used for FastDL.
If the server is Garry's Mod it will also write a resource.AddSingleFile("") function for each file it has downloaded except for maps.
It also compresses the files with Bzip2 and will remove any file from the FastDL that isn't on the server anymore.
Aaand it extracts the .gma files...
It also updates the server.cfg with the correct "sv_downloadurl" URL.
Aaaand since I'm a terrible designer, it's gonna be in good ol' plain text with old-school looking inputs...
I'm making this 'cause almost every single thread in the Help & Support section is about a FastDL that isn't working because some dude thinks that the FastDL should be flooded with .gma and .lua files.
Well, somebody has to take a bullet for the community, we wouldn't want to wait 2 hours to download game server files just because no one knows how to set it up now would we? :suicide:
I love my job. The only thing I'm working on this week that I didn't decide that we're going to work on is an hour or two adding a couple things to an email template. Having a boss that knows you know your shit not only from the writing code angle but also from the what is good for the business to have done angle is amazing.

Thanks for the suggestion :) That's a really great site.

The header font makes it look like "Pointlessly Boned."
I thought I would take the time off as I'm working on something very simple to just thank you guys for so much inspiration in here, you're all really talented!
And yea, I don't have much to show, so might as well leave it at that :v:

Just out of curiosity, what's the use of showing the server ID? Is that information actually used by the user anywhere? I would also think that showing the domain name first would make the most sense since that's easier to use at a glance to identify a particular server.

At first it was going to be a custom ID made up from part of the name, although I didn't end up doing that - so I may end up doing as you said and moving the domain first.
You never know, if he were to add an API a server ID would simplify things.
You never know, if he were to add an API a server ID would simplify things.
How? You'd have to look the ID up any time you wanted to use it, it would make way more sense to use the domain name in that case as well.
If you wanted something just to target a specific server
If you wanted something just to target a specific server
Yes but why would you use the ID instead of the domain name for that specific server?
Yes but why would you use the ID instead of the domain name for that specific server?
cause ID's shorter and unique.
cause ID's shorter and unique.
You should have unique hostnames for all of your servers in the first place though because hard-coding IPs anywhere is duplication of information and is less flexible if you need to move servers around.
"It's shorter" is a moot point if you have to look the ID up every time you want to use it in the first place
I decided to try out bootstrap (for the first time) while building a website for a client. It's coming out the way I wanted it so far, but I kind of had to fight it in some places.

So I added video support for that time killing website here: http://pointlesslybored.com/content?content=666
I added it so that you don't have to leave the website to view a video. Now, What's wrong with it? It just doesn't look right. Any suggestions?

Title should be above the video, possibly out of the box.

The animation. The colors. The font. The gradients. The everything.

Oh come on, at least give me some creative criticism.
EDIT:
Sorry for that little outburst. I took your criticism into account and changed the font logo, completely removed the box and made the title and player bigger.
What do you think now?

You have used both a footer and infinite scrolling, try viewing the footer on the main page.
Your logo has a border, your header on the youtube page has drop shadow which is inconsistent.
Logo and header have different fonts.
There is a pointless and annoying page load animation.
The font size for the boxes is way to small.
Some images in the boxes have a non white background, which makes it inconsistent.
You've mixed adds with the main content. Just put them on the side.
Gosh darn flask with sqlalchemy is nice. The more I use it the more I love it.
Wordpress managed to break in the middle of an on-image caption.
So the Webflow beta is out, and I am very impressed at the moment! My testing has been very limited but it seems to produce very clean code, I think this is definitely the path that web markup development will take in the future and I am on board for sure!
Thanks, nice work. but,

Doing extra work to support Opera is a waste of time. One of the websites I have google analytics data access to has 15 out of 11,387 visits using Opera in the last month. That's 0.1% of visitors.

Currently working on improving the conversion optimization system that I built to support tracking conversion rates for multiple goals on the website for each test.
As an example, we are currently running tests to see how changing the first order welcome discount amount ($10, $15, or $25 off your first order on the site) effects signup rates, but we also want to be able to see what impact that has on conversions to a successful sale, and the current system can only track one goal per test. That will no longer be a problem!
This is a fun tool to work on :)
Sneak peek at the site I showed earlier (still incomplete, only the static pages are done) http://bolteri-dev.herokuapp.com/ (try resizing the window).
It uses Rails, because it's going to require some interactivity features later on, but I'm already falling in love with the framework. The static pages are all the same but there's not one bit of repetition of code. Just incredible.
I've already started bracing for when I'll test this with IE 8.

Excuse the 1MB images, they're temporary.
Looking really good :) responds well too. Props!
I wish the moving header image wouldn't just stop moving though, and it feels really choppy when it slows down towards the end and you can feel the gap in the 1px movements from the ease out.

Should I make it loop? Not sure how it'd look though.
