The red words in the header will have a tooltip that explains more. Together will have contact info, etc.

what the heck?
Finished implementing the anims: http://new.andrewmcwatters.com/
The animations are excessive, I feel like I'm looking at a powerpoint slide.
Just for fun, I made it so that when it is night time in real life, it's dark on my website.

Is this stupid? Should I remove it?

I think your site would look better without the camp logo.

I think if the things that move by a large distance right now moved from a shorter distance and faded in as well it would look better. Maybe the stuff in the main content area should come in from the side too.

Wooohoo! Just reorganized the categories for mens clothing on spoonfedstyle, linked up my first scraper to those categories, and all the background jobs to scrape those categories and the subsequent product pages are now running successfully! Automation is awesome :)
well darn, i'll keep thinking about changing it or trashing it alltogether
thanks for the input guys, appreciate it
[editline]24th August 2013[/editline]
what if i just remove the anims? is it alright as it is? i really only cobbled it together in one afternoon, so if anyone can give me any input on that, i'd appreciate that as well
I think you should at least keep some of the animations in there, it does add something. Maybe just the header anims? Making them slightly more subtle would help too.

And the women's stuff is done now as well. Background jobs are kind of slow because they have to fetch the page, parse all the info that I need from the product, download the image, create the alternate image sizes that I need, and then upload the images to s3, but it should be done crawling everything by the end of the day :)
Okay, here's a slightly different revision.
http://new.andrewmcwatters.com/
Only the header has sweeping anims now. The rest of the site now fades in sequentially. If this seems overbearing still, I'll try having the entire site do sequential fades, which is far more subtle. (I've also seen Apple do this with success while loading in resources for different product pages, so if this doesn't work, full-site sequential fade-ins should.)
If all else fails, I'll drop it all entirely, but I'd like to at least do full-site sequential fade-ins. That shouldn't be too visually distracting.

looks better. but ditch the ACPM logo still - it looks like it was made in 5 mins and i don't know whetehr to read it as CAMP... Text saying your name is good enough.
You might want to add a dash of colour. Don't go over the top, but find a colour that by adding a hue to one of the greys that you use.

do you have any mock ups for the portfolio page too?
if you can't discern the order of the letters in correspondence to my name then you're probably a client i wouldn't deal with to begin with, so i think i'll pass on that suggestion
i'm fine with my color range, too
thanks, though
since there isn't much to the site, i'd like to get to the portfolio page once i have the landing done
3 public sections, that's about it

judging by your name it's supposed to be read as acpm
the way you have it laid out is completely countering that, I read it (and I'm sure most others will) as camp or capm simply because you read things from left to right

You also read from top to bottom, and it could be argued that top to bottom takes precedence over left to right. You don't start on the second line of an indented paragraph just because it's to the left more than the first sentence.
Where are you guys getting "ACPM" from that? I'm seeing "ACMP", reading counter-clockwise.
And everyone interchanged his old fp name as either amc faggot or a mcfaggot.
It's all right but 1/3 people will read it wierd.
There's a few comfortable ways of reading faggy hipster logos. Top-bottom-left-right, top-left-right-bottom, clockwise, and left-bottom-right.

[t]http://31.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m0hbprOk8p1rrn0nmo1_500.png[/t] = NASA.
So, from the same thinking, yours would produce: ACMP.
[t]http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m0tk284FgV1rrn0nmo1_500.png[/t] = OREO.
I think this is OREO, but I'm not sure - Since the letter combination isn't that familiar to me then it's hard to make out what it is. Looking at the overall design, it would make sense (white circle-on-dark = half oreo).
When the letters produce a word then it's easier to jump around and form a word from them.
To you the letters are familiar - so you'll arrange them how you see them. For people who see them the first time (potential clients) then they could be wondering what it means (until they link it to your name printed below).
So I worked a bit more on the museum site ( http://gamefridge.co.uk/comp/ ) from a few pages back. I spaced it out, learnt a valuable lesson about developing on a terrible laptop screen then looking at it on a 1080p monitor. Something I'm trying is to make it consistent across each browser and OS, and I'm having real trouble with the fonts. It seems like that when I have perfect spacing on something with Ubuntu, that when I go to Windows it's all wrong and it looks no where near as nice. Is there some way I can make fonts more consistent?
Again any critique on the site would be super helpful, it's a learning experience making a website for someone rather than doing it for yourself and I want to do a good job.

Looks really nice! Better than I could do, :v:.
A few suggestions perhaps:
- Padding at the bottom of the logo perhaps?
- Change navbar text to white to fit the logo rather than black.
- Maybe add a hero unit or some text ontop of the image scroller.
Yeah, definitely, add some slight padding to the header.

The museum owner likes it like that, I've tried to convince him otherwise and it was originally centered vertically and bigger (The down text fits their original logo http://www.computinghistory.org.uk/gfx/centre_for_computing_history_logo.gif ). You're right the white text does look way cleaner and nice.
But what is a hero unit? I'm assuming that's like a short sentence about X or a logo which is rather large. What sort of content should it be?
And thanks for the help :>

You should change the color of the text in the search box to white, and if it were me I'd get rid of the home button and redirect clicking the logo to the homepage. If you're not going to do that though, at least just make it so that when you click the logo it redirects you to the homepage. And instead of adding padding to the bottom of the logo (although that would be a good solution), why not make the text in the middle?
Like so:

Edit:
Sorry, I forgot to say that it looks really good. Good job!

Yeah, you've assumed right. Something like the big grey box here:

The words "I'm Manolis" blink along with your catch phrases. Why do that when the first line doesn't change?

When you scroll down and back up your CSS bugs out. Google Chrome. You should use a real picture instead of a cartoon, no one wants to pay a Mickey Mouse to make a website.
I don't have a good picture so I use George Clooney

Finally added buttons to 'set as watched' and 'set as unwatched' for both episodes and seasons.
Don't know if I'll actually release this but it's working pretty nicely.
