well.. at least the design is good
Can't blame a person for wanting to ride the money express to Tweenville.

Got some time again. Started working on tuxedogaming, but I almost killed myself when I saw all the stupid mistakes I made. Recoding pretty much all of it. Decided that events should go on the front page and not the games so I'm reworking the whole index page. How does this look to show the most popular events? Should I show them listed below each other or should I make a slideshow out of it? Below it would be lists like "most recent events", "upcoming" and "by game". Just uploaded it.
How does this look to show the most popular events? It might look better with the text overlayed on top of the image (not sure about the colors). And in that case, the slideshow might be a better idea.
"Unused space" as a design critique has to be one of my biggest pet peeves. Design doesn't mean cram as much info in to the window as you can.
"Unused space" as a design critique has to be one of my biggest pet peeves. I wouldn't look at the new gmail re-design and suggest it's got loads of unused space even though it has lots of whitespace

I wouldn't look at the new gmail re-design and suggest it's got loads of unused space even though it has lots of whitespace
The reason it bugs me is because whenever I hear it 99% of the time it's something that would be fixed by spacing everything else in the design out a little more or making other small changes that aren't jamming all the content in as small an area as possible. Either that or it's been from uneducated clients (although I'm not freelancing anymore so that's a non-issue now haha) For instance, with the design he posted, that whitespace wouldn't look nearly as empty if all the text was left aligned instead of that left-right-left thing that's going on, and it was pulled away from the edge of the container more so it had a bit more breathing room.
Better? [editline]23rd July 2012[/editline] updated pic. When "more info" is clicked the image will slide out and more information + link to the event page will show.
an old friend taught never to fill a page full of yellow, since yellow hurts the eyes.
Composition and how much background space is actually ever seen has a lot to do with it. It can control where the eye focuses. http://teacakedesign.com/
Composition and how much background space is actually ever seen has a lot to do with it. It can control where the eye focuses. http://teacakedesign.com/
Jesus F. Christ, my fucking eyes! It literally hurts looking at the site.
I have in mind a hybrid system of both CMS and CRM systems. This project has brought me back to HTML and has put my feet well under C++; very grateful this has taken me so far.

http://teacakedesign.com/
Even though it's beautifully designed, the yellow kind of hurt my eyes and detracted my attention away from the content. [editline]23rd July 2012[/editline]
[t]http://i.imgur.com/btXG3.png[/t]
ooh, very metro
[t]http://i.imgur.com/btXG3.png[/t]
I can't put my finger on what's wrong with this, like someone above me said it does look slightly metro-y but you haven't completely nailed that feeling. I think the main problem is the color scheme, I know it's trying to stick with the elpishost colors but it just doesn't look right (nor does the elpishost logo, honestly) [editline]24th July 2012[/editline] are there 3 people on fp that can vouch for me on forrst? I browse it a lot and not being able to comment on things annoys me
