Gabe was pretty shitty a year ago.
He's been putting a lot of time into perfecting his skills and it's really paid off. I feel like he's possibly the most active designer on here in terms of how often he posts new designs.

what an uncanny coincidence, they look very similar!
Besides the dashed lines and the same avatar I don't really see any other similarities. Regardless, there's nothing wrong with using elements from previous designs.

I think his main issue was the design he referenced had used like 3 or so different patterns from the front page and I think that was more what he was complaining about. Kop can correct me if I'm wrong of course but not even sure why you brought that back up?As for the design itself I agree with you that the logo needs re-working. I also dislike how the menu text and container for the recipe card don't line up. I feel the background would match better if the menu didn't have line separators also as it means the lines don't match up there either. I like the presentation of the recipes themselves though.

Progress! I've got it setup to push events to the client when a file is updated so when I edit a view or a stylesheet I don't have to refresh. Very handy as I can have the browser and my editor open next to each other and I can see the changes live as I save.

I actually quite like this, its obviously not very polished yet but you have good alignment, padding and spacing (so far) and the colours at least work although the green horizontal lines could perhaps be a little darker and there could be more vertical padding on that header elements there. Your logo could also be a few pixels higher it's not centred properly. As I said, I like it.

Also, it's not very honest but you could remove that "Powered By" text with some simple js (if I were you I'd probably do that and instead place a "Powered By" message in the footer)

the powered by message, can you not just wrap a div around it and set it to display:none; ?
Yup I've actually done that before just to see if it was possible. It worked like a charm ;)
I'm an honest guy though and if I'm going to do that may as well just go with a unbranded license.

It looks cool, besides I REALLY don't like the design INSIDE the text box, the title columns look stupid and I'm not really fancied by the font either.
Also, on the navigation I would recommend a smoother (Less Times New Roman style / less sharp). Try for example Ubuntu Mono for a start.
am i the only one that got the paypal thing where they're asking for a photo id, proof of address, and proof of ssn?
i'm probably never gonna use paypal again because of it.
