Exactly! He's trying to bring up the points about how eBay ads have flashy colors, all the other unlocker websites are flashy, etc. but he doesn't seem to understand that those websites are flashy because they're doing anything possible to draw attention. This is really annoying. ^^^ Tera, you're awesome. That made my day.
You have to show this to your brother in a serious manner and post his reaction. Please.
Hey guys. I started making some basic design for a project at school, I would love some feedback. Thanks in advanced.
font is ugly and far too big, colours aren't very appealing, navigation is too big and the font spoils that too, and finally your search bar isn't vertically aligned properly
font is ugly and far too big, colours aren't very appealing, navigation is too big and the font spoils that too, and finally your search bar isn't vertically aligned properly
Instead of saying things like font is ugly or colours aren't very appealing, etc, could you please come up with suggestions as to what to change them too? I agree the font for the main content could be smaller and that the Search Bar doesn't look 100% right, but please, could you provide some constructive feedback. I like that you provided feedback, but like I said, could you please also provide some suggestions as to what you think would make it look better. As for now, I'm off. Thanks again.
I'm trying to redesign my website because I currently have virtually no web presence, but I'm apparently crap at design. This is what I've currently got, can anyone suggest some improvements? (Photo pending getting a new mugshot since all my existing ones suck)
My thoughts and concerns: - Too small. The real site would be much wider and taller. - How are the fonts? - How are the colors? I actually like them. - I think there's probably not enough padding. - Perhaps the text is too small. Since the site will likely be expanded (I'll make a larger mock-up later), the current size might be too hard to read. - When I do expand it, should the header and navigation bar be separate from / unaligned with the body, like they currently are, or should I fit everything within the invisible columns extending from the sides of the body?

As far as layout is concerned, here's my 2¢

Thanks again.
apologies, I just wrote something quick before I had to dash off You generally want to stick to sans-serif fonts for webpages, Google Fonts has a nice library of fonts you can use on your pages. You'll have to play around yourself with the structuring of the font, but the best font size for large pieces of text is around 12px. As for the header and the navigation, at something like 1920x1080 and higher, having about a fifth of the screen took up by a header isn't particularly appealing. You'll want to use something that doesn't span the whole width of the page and doesn't take up a lot of vertical space. I'd make a mock up but I'm going again in a second so I haven't got the time. (also, sorry for the jpg quality -- I guess imgur doesn't like big pngs)
I'm a bit confused about the logo (the picture not the text). Looks really random to be there. if you want to keep it you might want to add some padding (not sure if this will look any nicer)
@smlance date format too machine friendly.
Had "advanced Web-apps" today in class, and my classmates did a quick repeat on the basics of html, headings and paragraphs for like 10-15min, so i decided to quickly code a inspirational blog/portfolio layout Here is the link to the page:http://users.turkuai.fi/users/jlehtine/webapplikationer/ Any suggestions I should fix next time I'm waiting for them to learn the basics :D? oh forgot to add, just leave the form it's for testing purpose only
